Just spoke to a buddie of mine that works for the DOT, road kill just east of Cle Elum, a sad day !
-
thats to bad.
Looks like it was a healthy cow.
-
Probably was running from the wolves when it crossed the road.
-
Interesting. How many moose are estimated to be in that area?
-
Yearling, I seen two cows last fall up the valley, this was the calf i'm guessing, I seen one other bull about 4 years ago in the same area, was about 24 inches then.

:yeah: thats exactly what I was just thinking.
-
Wow... did not know there was moose in there... lol.. Will be a bit more observant from now on... Would love to get photos of them.

We been seeing moose the last 4 or 5 years, a few stragglers been wandering down from the north, starting to get a foot hold in the ALW, these are the best ones I been able to get.
-
Eric down at napa just told me this also. Bummer. If it wouldn't have been a car it would have been a wolf.
-
That stinks
-
Bummer, sucks for the moose and whoever hit that big gal
-
real bummer...wonder what happened to the car...talk about waste of game :'(
-
50 bucks and a case of heiniken says that the DOT workers eat that cow.
-
well, hate to see it go to waste

Probably a pack of wolves chasing it :bash: I'm getting real sick and tired of these darn wolves!! I would always see a bunch of animals along the highway but not any more with these wolves!
-
To bad she was hit, but glad to hear there is enough of the around to have one get hit.
-
The car looks like it hit a deer actually I have seen deer do worse damage.
-
Bummer hope they take off there
-
Another one, same critter
-
:'(. Hope there gets to be a good population around there, this obviously didnt help though. Any idea on how many are around there?

Those moose won't last long. Wolves love elk more than deer but absolutely crave moose. Yellowstone can not confirm for sure if they have a single moose left. Say goodbye to the Teanaway moose.

sure is a shame. wish i could have a back strap and s shoulder roast for jerkey. never has moose before is it any good?
-
only had it once but it was the most tender, sweet tasting steak iv'e ever had.
i dont think i would use moose for jerkey.
hate to see this one downed by a vehicle.
-
Moose IMO is the best meat there is. My Canada moose, granted it was a younger bull... even the neck meat was tender. :cue: I drool in my sleep over finding a way to another moose hunt :chuckle:

Yeah no kidding, When I hear moose I think main.
That was here in WA?
NEVER woulda thunk it!

We seen a cow and a calf Friday night around midnight, 7 miles from the turn at Pateros right before black canyon creek on our way to Winthrop. They were laying in a field right next to the road and got up and walked away when we stopped to look at them. I have never seen them that low in the valley all though I have heard of them down that way.

I have to agree, the moose up there will be easy pickings to predators as the snow drives them down, deer numbers have already dropped to as low as I have ever seen, when the food supply runs out the wolfs will move on, next stop the Joe Watt.

so i found a cure to your wolf problem number 4 buckshot in a 3 inch mag. does wonders to things and i bet yeah it would cure the wolf problems
