I looked right over that...thanks for the link

Get her an older, used Nikon or Canon to save beaucoup money. Ie, Canon XSi, XTi, etc.... then spend the BIG bucks on nice glass. With digital photography its all about the lens. :twocents:

That's pretty much what happened to us. My wife took photography in high school and I bought her a Canon but I've wound up using it more than her.

That 40D would be a great one to start with

Great suggestion - and they're cheap now! It's a heck of a lot of camera for the money.

Nikon D80 is cheap as well. I inherited some Nikon glass so it made it easier for me to go Nikon but I think Canon shoots nice too.

I have a used Canon 20D I am selling and a 30D I am thinking of selling if interested.

i just got my first dslr in august and am loving it! i went with the nikon d5100 and is a very diverse, action oriented camera. it was a movable tilt screen that has been very useful for different shots/video. also a huge assortment of scene modes that are very fun to play with. all i have read though is, just like a rifle, the glass is very important. it is worth the money to spend more on a good lense. these days most dslr's are going to produce outstanding pictures...given the optics you have allow it.

Thanks for the info guys..sounds like its either gonna be a cannon or nikon....pm sent shane

Canon xs is a good one to.

Canon xs is a good one to.
They can take nice images no doubt. FWIW, I would stick to the xxD bodies if you are going to be outdoors a lot, they are built better to handle the elements. The one issue I have with the XS versions is they are physically smaller than the xxD and full frames, when you use a L series lens they do now balance very well. :twocents:

I'm really thinking about getting the Nikon 3200 dslr 24.5 megapixels
Anyone have this one or close to it? :dunno:
