ANYBODY ELSE SHOOT AN ELK IN THE MASHELL UNIT. I SHOT THIS ONE ON THE 9TH AT 7:00 PM.
THE ONE ON MY PACK BOARD IS FROM LAST YEAR. I SHOT IT IN ELBE ON PRIVATE PROPERTY.

Good bulls man! When we going hunting ;) :chuckle:

I live 660 feet from the Pack Forest boundary and I had the multi season Elk tag this year. I was so looking forward to hunting elk all year long. Then I had to go and shoot one on the second day. I guess i can live with myself. :chuckle:
Alot of my buddies were wondering why i moved so far out. Now they know. I called one in last year also, within 600 feet of where I shot this one.
Funny thing is that my taxidermist keeps asking me that same question.
I am up for some serious deer hunting now. Have some big bucks and bears around my place too. My neighbor half mile north killed a 400 lb bear last year. he claims that it is the new state record. 21 and 3/4" skull.

i was thinking about going to the mashel unit for the general season elk hunt with a modern rifle. is the pack forest open and would it be worth heading to or is it completely over-run by people? any info would be awesome! pm if you prefer!

If I heard right. There was another bull killed right where you got yours. One right across the road and up just a ways. Than two more up the road a little further. I guess someone got one of the big 6s that was running around. I know one of the other big dogs is still alive for now. As long as the scissorbills stay off private land. He should be fine, but like I keep telling my buddy. Good luck keeping those idiots from tresspassing. It's like they think screw it. I'll just shoot it and see if anyone even finds out.
