Congrats. That is a serious camera. When you gonna get more glass for it? I looked at the 7d very seriously and ended up with a 50d, since I didn't really want video. I love it. I bet your gonna love the 7d!

The only thing I don't like about the 7D was the lack of a lock for the dial, I think they make a aftermarket locking piece for it now though.

Hey benbo,
I just thought of this: make sure that you do the update on your 7D off of Canonusa.com. It has awesome new features in it that are well worth the free downlaod! :)

benbo,
I definitely have a 300 f4IS L. :) My wife uses it all the time and she absolutely loves it! :yeah: Here's a photo she took with that lens:

I personally use a Canon 400 f5.6 L lens myself for a little longer reach, but I loose 1 f stop with it. But I don't ever have a problem with that. :) Even in a dark concert hall I have pulled off some awesome shots. :)

Thanks Bowhunter! :) I'll tell my wife what you posted. :) That Canon 300L is a fantastic lens! :yeah: My wife has only been using a camera for a year now and this lens has made a HUGE difference in her photos! IS is awesome for people with less than steady hands!

I was out this morning coyote hunting on Samish and there is alot of fowl and eagles to get pictures of ...seemed like the eagles where out there by the hundreds
-
That is our favorite spot to go out and take Eagle photos! :) In fact, that Eagle in the photo was on the trees by the road down close to Edison! :)

I drove around thomas R.D and it was crazy all the birds I seen ...I did pull up to a young eagle and was just getting my camera out of my pack when he decided to take off :bash: :bash: Keep up the good work

That happens a lot! :) We drive around with our cameras out and ready on the center console of the rig, but we still miss photos due to not being quick enough! :( ;) :) :D

Congratulations on the new camera.
For a critter lens the 400 f5.6L won't disappoint if you learn to shoot in Manual mode and shoot wide open. The 300 f4L might be a good idea and you could couple it with a Tamron 1.4x multiplier for more reach. With a solid rest the 400 f5.6 is great with the Tamron 1.4x for 560mm f8, but again a steady rest and some good light.
