DLC Coverts, the "Red 40" and "MP6" seem to be the most popular trail cams right now for the guys who are really hard core into trail cams. I have no experience with them, as my most expensive camera was $100. And all the rest of the cameras I have were from $40 to $80.

If I had the money to spend I'd definitely try the Red 40. The guys on Chasin Game seem to really like that one.

I have a Covert Reveal. It's a white flash camera that cost me like $115 from amazon but it looks like their price has went up since then. At first I have some problem with certain SD cards not working in it. But then I found a couple that worked. It seemed to be pretty reliable and took really nice clear pictures. I left it out during the winter and we got a good amount of snow. It had been out for a over a month and when I finally checked it it had some condensation in it and wasn't functioning correctly. I sent them and email and they had me ship it back to them and they sent me a brand new one! Haven't had any problems yet with the new one, but for some reason the picture quality doesn't seem quite as clear as the first one I had. Oh well.

But anyways, I'd say its a pretty good camera overall, and very good customer support!

Hope that helps you!

I bought the Covert white flash last year for $115 at Amazon also. It has worked well, but I don't like the fact that it can't be setup without the remote device. For the price though, it's been a very good camera. I was surprised at the trigger speed, and liked the pic quality.

Sweet pics Turner. What type of locations do you place your cams?

Doesn't really look like there is a game trail in the spot in the first pics. Looks like timbered area on the top of a cut?  The last buck pic is hard to tell if there is a game trail there.

Are you using bait?

If not using bait how many buck pics do you average per month of soaking?

@ turner89 : I definitely agree! That's really one of the only things I don't like about the camera. Wish it had a viewing screen on it!

Also curious on your blacktail buck pictures. Looks like you just put the cams in a random spot not on a well used trail? I've always heard big bucks tend to hang in stuff like that and don't always use heavily used trails. But how do you know where to set one up without getting zero action for months on end until something happens to finally go by there?

Well there not on highways, but they are set-up on pretty good trails. I normally dont get more than 15-20 pictures per 2 weeks on average. I just look for fresh tracks, crap, and graze sign. ........I will sometimes hike around all day and not find a spot I want to leave my camera.

I got a 2012 DLC Covert Extreme Black 60 on clearance this spring and like it pretty well so far. So do the elk. Only had it it the woods 2 weeks so far. Good pictures, senses well with a long and wide detection zone.
