My wife is a stay at home housewife. I am a pastor of a small church. In the past I had a plumbing/ contacting business and we did well, but we live on very little now (by choice.)
I have been wanting to try muzzy, but again money...?
The disc extreme has been a pipe dream , but well you know...
Today my wife comes home with this!!!
She has been watching the neighbors kid and pinching pennies to get this for me!
This is the second gun she has bought me.

Yes, yes she does.
-
Sounds like you have a good lady right there...
-
That's a good woman you have there(gotta find me one)....ML is nice too!
I have the Disc Extreme and Long Range Hunter...Great guns
!!
Is yours 50Cal?
-
Wow, sounds like you have one wonderful wife.
-
Anybody want to teach me how to shoot muzzy?!?

Anybody want to teach me how to shoot muzzy?!?
No problem...Anytime your down here in Puyallup let me know.
Remember these two words:
1)dry
2)clean
I'll send you a PM with a couple ML forums that I like other then the one here
-
There is lots of good info on this forum.....Probably don't want to drive to Wenatchee for lessons :chuckle: :chuckle:. If you have questions don't hesitate to ask.
-
Yeah I live on Whidbey and have been shotgun hunting modern. I figure muzzy performance is at least equal to a slug, and a longer season.
My parents live in Puyallup.
-
alright! :)
-
I wanted this but figured I would wind up with the traditions vortek NW magnum.
I don't know where she found this but it is NICE!
The only downside is that it does seem to be significantly heavier, but I can deal with that as everything/ everyone I have read says this is the best muzzy legal in Washington.
-
Awesome, I'd help ya out but I to am Pastor of a very small church and I am about 8 hour's from you down near Mt Adams.
-
Oh I forgot to finish my earlier post ... Equal performance ... And a longer season. I hunt evenings after work, no days off, (pastor and am a plumber) and I hunt local. So more half hour to fourth five minute evenings seems good.
-
Awesome wazukie!!!
-
We live on venison, so more time to harvest should equal less stress.
-
Troutlake? Or Packwood?
-
Which powder/ bullets should I get?
-
I would agree with you. That is a great gift.
2012 was my first year hunting with a muzzy and it was a hoot.
-
-
Which powder/ bullets should I get?
50 cal right? If so...
If it were me and for Wa. I would run
CCI#11 Mag. caps
777-3F
Barnes T-EZ in 250g unless I wanted to set it up for deer and elk then I would go with the 290g T-EZ....Bloodline is good too from, what I hear
-
I will probably only be hunting deer (blacktail). I would love to get out after some elk, but I just don't get the opportunity to travel for hunting much. I have considered the peninsula but I really don't know where to go out there.
I grew up in Northern Oregon and got a few elk when I was younger.
-
Are there any other incidentals I should get for muzzy in general?

I'm sure others will chime ....
Sounds like your just starting out and don't have any muzzleloader stuff so ill PM you a check list
-
I have only shot one other muzzy, an old school, and I didn't load it.
-
TOTAL GREENHORN!!!
-
Troutlake? Or Packwood?
It's way worse where wazukie lives, troutlake has electricity! :chuckle:
-
Excellent....

Dude, you are one blessed man. What model of Knight is that? I am looking to find a legal muzzy and maybe take it up again.

It's the Knight "Disc Extreme"
Here is a link:

Get it with the western ignition and your all set...
-
Nice!
-
you have a great woman!!! You will absolutely love the disc!!
-
Your wife has excellent taste in muzzleloaders! I've got a disc extreme and it's my second muzzleloader. There's a guy on here named Sabotloader who is a huge advocate and great resource for disc extreme owners; I got mine because of him. I'm guessing you'll never need another smoke pole.
-
That is one excellent woman! A real keeper, as they say. Proverbs 31 must come to mind often for you.
-
:-) Proverbs 31 :-)
Yes, she is a true P31 lady! She doesn't work a job per se, but she is always industrious, is always stretching dollars, and productive.
I got a powder flask, and measure last night. Little by little gathering stuff.
-
Got caps and bullets.
-
What bullets did you decide on?
-
Proverbs 31? Is this some new fangled translation?
"She considers a Muzzle loader and buys it." Close enough.
P.S. PM sent.
-
I got the Hornaday 250gr ballistic tips.
One of the guys I hunt with shot a doe with a rifled shotgun using those and it took 4+ inches of spine out. ( neck shots).
I am not stuck on them but will try them? I was thinking bloodlines made by knight, but 39.00 for 20!!!
-
I sorta goofed and bought triple 7 FFFg instead of FFg!
How bad of oops is that?

It's fine....I prefer 3F over 2F
I'll PM ya

Cool, sounds like a good goof!
-
Got a few more goodies (assorted bullets and such) from a member here today. Look forward to shooting it!
-
WOW... Nice gift! I also like muzzle loading, I hunt the skamania county area. Every one will give you info on what you should use... IMO try everything. Every gun is different and likes different loads. I shot Jim Shockey Gold in 3f and powder form, with a 300 gn Barnes MZ and musket cap. That load works well for me. I have shot elk out to 200 yards with that load. Good luck to you
-
well, I got drawn for second deer, so hope the muzzy can pull it off twice!
-

Good deal goodluck buddy!
-
She certainly sounds like a keeper!
I can add this, which relates to my earlier post, when loading; it is powder, THEN bullet....*sigh*
I myself am using 300 grain XTP sabots being pushed by 90 grains of 7 FFF and using a CCI #11 mag cap. Have yet to have a misfire as long as I do not do something terribly stupid (and once I put a new nipple on the Hawkins, seems someone liked to dry fire it and kind of anviled the head of the old one).
-
Well the muzzy works :-)
-
Wow preacherman! Great Blackie! You're a bit younger than I expected :chuckle: Way to pay off the new ML, give that wife of yours another kiss and a huge thank you!
-
Congrats on the gunsnd finding an amazing wife!
