First an Intro:
Retired Navy, Texas Native but the other half didn't want to move yet so we stayed in the great PAC Northwest. Took up Archery again 3 years ago (used to target shoot a bit when I was very young and I made a recurve once in shop class ) and I decided, with a little prodding to try Elk Hunting with a friend of mine. Man I didn't know how bad I would get the bug. Now for the point of the post, I've been lurking for a while attempting to glean as much info on Elk Hunting as I can as well as info on areas. We hunted the east side the first season (Bumping, Naches, etc early and late season), then we switched to Lewis River unit last year for early and Winston for late. No success in any of them, to the point that I haven't even gotten a close up look yet.
I'm looking for any info on the Wynoochee unit for the late hunt. Decided to bail on Wonston for late season since it's sooooo crowded. Regular traffic jams. Not looking for honey holes or favorite spots, Just advice on the best route to get in, general areas to look around. I plan on going over there a couple of times and scouting the area before hand.
There are some great stories on this board and I really enjoy the success as well as the not so successful ones. I've learned alot just by reading your stories, methods, etc.
Thanks in advance

early season is bad, late can be ok though

Thick, Hot and Buggy- would not advise early season

We would be going late season. Probably sticking with Lewis for early, course' that depends on the weather next year.
Thanks so far.
