I've hit them as early as April, but May to June is when I really start wacking them. I'll start fishing for them when lakes open. Fish for trout  and have at least one Kokanee set up out.

Buddy of mine slow trolls a little "koke candy"....it is like a wedding ring with spinner. Almost looks to me like a worm rig for walley. Most stores will have a section for kokes...just think "tiny  salmon".

Here you go......most tactics that this guy uses should work just about everywhere.

hmm and since they're land-locked sockeye I'm thinking trolling a small dodger with a tiny bare hook behind it too

Possibly. My local lake is legal for chumming as well. Most people troll but a few drift with the occasional scoop of chum tossed over the side.

Dick nites ( pink)  tipped with crappie candy, or shrimp  fished at various depths on down riggers

Lake Conconelly holds some big kokes

At night with a truck light shining in the water using maggets and glow hooks (charged by camera flash) at the thermocline.

That is a recipe for slaying Kokanee.

got the March issue of WA & OR Game & Fish today. They had an artical about catching kokanee's and I'm getting excited.

Going to do a couple more steelhead trips, then start getting ready for the kok's

On a side note, I may be moving over to the Moses Lake area if I get this job i'm going after...anyone know how the Kokanee fishing is over there??? I'll start a thread on it if I do end up moving that direction. And IF I do land this job, i'll be able to upgrade my boat AND get all the bells and whisles to go with it.  :chuckle:
