Traded this set to a Hunt-Wa member for a fixer dirt bike...
ShedStud sent me the antler to work with, every piece (except the Wenge Cougar whistle) is made from his antler.

Beauty!

Never been a big fan of knife handles made out of antler but that is gorgeous. Good work sir.
-
Thx guys.
I hear ya, Ebrgpo, there's a trick to it, I've seen some embarrassing antler base knives. :yike:
-
Nice work Rainshadow. I see the pin in the handle, is that the only way you secure them ? I made one 30 years ago, and its still in one piece. :chuckle:
-
I'm still not sure who got the better deal....
Just kidding! As long as you're both happy with the trade, it's all good. Beautiful work on the knife and calls, by the way.
-
WOW Did you make that sheath ? I want one of those and a knife to go with it ..... :yike:
-
Very cool! Nice knive.
-
Very Cool!
-
quality work!
-
Thx guys,
Nwtf, there's the pin, and the multi-perforated hidden tang is 3" into the antler and set in solid epoxy. It isn't going anywhere!
-
quality work!
I am sorry for my earlier comment. Just left you webpage. Your work is unreal. From one artist to another you got it going on!
-
I was wondering if you used epoxy.... Have you heard of or ever tried the old fashioned way ?
-
I may or may not know what you mean by the "old fashioned way," but I don't know that I could build my bolsters (this one is G10 carbon/red carbon/G10 carbon/Walrus Ivory) and press and pin under pressure like I do with the method I think you're referring to... so I'm happy with new fangled!
-
Oh man!!! Above and beyond. That set is a beauty, can't wait to meet up and put my hands on those.
-
That is pretty, what type of epoxy did you use?
-
I think it was loctite

Always cool to see one huntwa member treating fellow members the way they do. From awesome trades like this to discounted items for members only to free stuff from one member to another. Thanks again to thefisherman83 for my deal ;)
-
Very nice! Makes mine look like crap. I did mine by boiling it in water for a half hour until the pith was soft and pressed the tang into the hadle, it dries solid. At least so far so good
-
Wanted share mine if it's ok, I made it for my girlfriend for our two year anniversary.
