Post by: couesbitten on February 18, 2013, 10:38:31 AM
I took part in a Newsmax poll about Obama's proposed bun gun ban, below are the results.

Should the federal government regulate guns of any type?

  Yes, it should 326,874(28%)
  No, it should not 821,828(71%)

Should Congress ban semi-automatic weapons?

  Yes, it should 262,367(22%)
  No, it should not 897,001(77%)

If Congress does not act, should President Obama use an executive order to ban or strictly control the sale of semi-automatic weapons?

  Yes, he should 238,937(20%)
  No, he should not 919,051(79%)

Do you agree that the Second Amendment gives citizens the right to own and bear guns without infringement?

  Yes, I agree 940,837(81%)
  No, I don't agree 217,909(18%)

Would Newsmax be a nationwide poll?

Would Newsmax be a nationwide poll?
Never heard of "Newsmax" but I'll bet good money it is a biased source (like Faux News).  I don't believe those numbers reflect the American people.  And I wonder whether there were additional questions in the poll that were left out of the post above?

Newmax is a very conservative-based news source.  They are not the far left media outlets like CBS, NBC, or ABC.

Newsmax is a conservative polling group that does online/email polls targeting known conservative groups and members.  They had Romney winning the election by 2%.  Don't let these type polls give you a sense of complacency.

They also provide news feeds from a conservative point of view.  Very good point about the Romney thing.  They did have him winning.  The people who answer Newsmax are more likely to be pro-gun.  Don't get a sense of complaceny!

Out of curiosity, which would you consider the least biased television news source?

I don't even watch the television news for information.  Even Fox, who is supposed to be conservatuive and unbiased, isn't.   The best source of unbiased reporting is Real Clear Politics.  You get stories and news feeds from the Left and Right, and there polling data is the best anywhere.  The best thing about RCP is their specialty is polling data.  The best polling information anywhere, bar none.  The political writers at Real Clear Politics give the most thoughtful, in-depth analysis anywhere.  I will always remember in 2010, that RCP was the only news source that called the Republicans would lose both the Senate and Governor seat in Nevada and gave their reasons why.  Not only did they call the races right, the reasons they gave were 100% correct.  The RCP writers aren't biased right or left, so when they call something I might not want to hear, at least I know it isn't for a biased reason.

Any "online" poll isn't worth the paper it's written on.  ;)

Agreed 100% about online polls.  None of RCP polls are online.  They are done by different polling firms.  They do not report online polling data.
