This was my first ever shots taken at 1000 yards. Its not the best group and i only hit 11 out of 15 but it was fun. My 14 month old is in pic for an idea of the scale.
-
oh i forgot. I'm shooting 140gr Berger VLD's out of a 6.5 creedmoor topped with Vortex Viper PST 6-24X50 second focal plane.

Nice job. I like the target too.
I just took a guy out on Sunday to shoot at 400 yards for the first time. He was happy to be hitting the 10" gong at 400. I've never had a chance to get past 750. It's too hard to find a place to shoot that far around here.

Thats something i want to get into. How do you like the 6.5?
-
It is light on recoil and super accurate. Great BC's for bullets also. We are setting up a 1 mile range on the family farm. We had 14 lifesize animals cut and 7 gongs. The animals include rabbits, coyotes wolves, elk, moose, grizzly, cougar, pheasant, geese and ducks.

Wish I had that much space to shoot 1k yards. Good shooting though.

Sounds like an invite to me :chuckle:
I have no place to shoot more than couple hundred yards. :(

well, if it wasnt a private place Id have some shoot outs, Im pretty sure we could get to 13-1500 if we really wanted to
-
you guys could come to the long range shoots i put on, snowshoe22 has attended one and liked it. I have ideas for two shoots so far for this spring, just haven't picked a date yet for them. you can go to my website at www.sportsmanschallenge.weebly.com (http://www.sportsmanschallenge.weebly.com) and check out the past shoots, pictures, prizes ect. I got these going for guys to get more trigger time and get more proficient in their abilities before they go out and shoot at an animal or just to gain a fun way to compete and strive to shoot better.
check out the targets also
nice job snowshoe22, i like that cougar

I'll take some picks of the other animals as i get them up.
-
I'm no expert, but that looks like an absolutely awesome group for your first 1,000 yard shoot.
Thanks for sharing. I'll enjoy following this as you add targets.
-
Tagging along to see what comes along down the road,I also concur that looks to be some pretty good shootiing for a first ever whack at it.
-
Some of the other targets, Moose, Standing Bear, goose, duck, and rabbit.
-
The deer, wolves and some of the other targets are in the bottom of the pile. When i break out the backhoe i'll get more pics
-
How do you like the scope? I've been thinking about getting one for my 700 I'm looking at shooting 1000 yards as well.
-
I really like the viper PST's. This is the third one i have had. My first was a 4-16X it was a great scope but i wanted a little more power. The FFP was good too but i like the fine reticle in the SFP. The FFP got pretty coarse on the higher powers. I don't think you can go wrong with one. The adjustments are right every time and the glass is clear enough. The moa line on the reticle are dead nuts.

Snoeshoe22 that's awesome! I recently played at this range and my hats off to you ! I have been looking at the LRP in 243, but torn between the 6.5 creedmore. We are going out this weekend to practice some more now that I got my load dialed in. I am interested in your shoots. Sounds fun!
