how much fpe do you think is enough to kill a coyote :dunno:

.22lr will do it with proper placement..but a body hit wont always drop them on the spot. you asked about energy, but what caliber are you trying to use?

.22lr, .17hmr or .223

.223 I have taken a lot of Dogs with my .17 hmr With in 150 yds.
Uncle swears by his old pump Remington 22 LR he carries in the Combine.

Shot placement is the most crittical component, but as a rule of thumb(you can always get lucky) IMO.

under 100yrds-22mag 17hmr

under  150yrds- 22 Hornet, 218 Bee

under 200yrds- 221FB, 222 Rem

under 250-300yrds- 204 Ruger, 223, 222 Rem Mag

Over 300- 22-250, 243 and on up.

I've killed coyotes with all the above except the 17hmr, 221FB nd 204Ruger

60 yards with the right choke and shell.
