Title: EMERGENCY - NOW, Today, call before they vote
Post by: bearpaw on February 27, 2013, 09:23:49 AM
TODAY, the United States Senate Judiciary Committee is holding a hearing on Senator Dianne Feinstein's anti-gun bill...which would BAN millions of commonly owned semi-automatic firearms and BAN ammunition magazines that hold more than ten rounds.
YOUR SENATORS NEED TO HEAR FROM YOU RIGHT NOW!!!

Please call both of your Senators today at (202) 224-3121 and tell them to OPPOSE the Feinstein Gun Grab bill.
Tell your Senators that President Barack Obama's own Justice Department recently reported that any ban on semi-automatic firearms WILL NOT WORK...unless it includes mandatory gun buy backs, which is federal GUN CONFISCATION!

Senator Feinstein herself told CBS's 60 Minutes that if she could get the votes "for an outright ban, picking up every one of them -- Mr. and Mrs. America turn 'em all in" she would do it!!!

You must call now, before they vote!

Call (202) 224-3121 and tell them to OPPOSE the Feinstein Gun Grab bill.

This only took about 90 seconds.

The first time I called the switchboard was busy, I called back and got the swithboard, I asked for Senator Murray's office.

When you get Murrays office ask them to tell Senator Murray to: Please Oppose The Feinstein Gun Grab!

Then ask to be transferred to Senator Cantwell's office and tell her office the same thing.

My wife is trying to call now....

"We're Sorry All Circuits Are Busy" that's the telephone company, we are plugging the whole phone system.

She is hitting redial and sometimes gets through to the Whitehouse switchboard, "All Operators Are Assisting Other Callers At This Time".

She is hitting redial, let's keep them busy, they need to be flooded with calls.

I called with the home phone, now I am trying to call with my cell phone  ;)

Can't get through, the lines are plugged half the time and half the time I get the recording at the whitehouse...

This is what we want, let's keep them swamped with calls. They need to know the people will not accept this.

Cantwell and Murray are both in favor, that's why we must bombard them with calls.

Tell them if they vote for this, you will contribute to the campaign of anyone who opposes them in the next election.

They must be pressured. :twocents:

I am calling to ask that Senator [...] oppose Senator Feinstein's S.150 Assault Weapons Ban of 2013 and the barrage of other anti-gun bills that are flooding our legislative assemblies.  They are all attacks on our 2nd Amendment Rights to Keep and Bear Arms and they will do nothing to prevent criminals from carrying out their malevolent deeds.  These bills will only serve anti-gun agendas and diminish the Constitutional rights of law-abiding citizens.  Please vote NO on Senator Feinstein’s bill and all of the other blatantly anti-gun bills.

Thank you.

Wow, just spent three hours watching that nonsense. No one could give an honest answer on how this ban will work when the previous one did not. Three reports on the previous ban determined it did not make a differance and there are no reports that it did. That right there is reason enough to stop this waste of tax payers hard earned money on making more useless laws that will not save lives.

This liberal hack makes me nauseous.

"Dear Mr. W,

Thank you for contacting me to express your views on gun ownership and violence prevention. I appreciate hearing from you on this important issue.

As you know, on January 16, 2013, President Obama announced a series of legislative proposals and executive actions intended to reduce gun violence. I applaud the President's efforts to close gun purchase loopholes and to create new tools for further background checks.

Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) introduced a bill to regulate assault weapons (S. 150) on January 24, 2013. The proposed legislation bans certain military-style, semi-automatic weapons, and makes it illegal to produce, import, or sell magazines with capacity over ten rounds. The bill has been referred to the Senate Judiciary Committee, where it is currently awaiting further debate and review.

In the past, I supported the original Assault Weapons Ban and the Brady Bill, as well as the Youth Handgun Safety Act of 1993, which prohibits juveniles from possessing or receiving handguns. I look forward to work with my colleagues in the Senate to strengthen responsible legislation to rein in gun violence. We need to work to close the loopholes in existing laws that allow criminals and children to gain access to firearms contrary to the law's intention. One example is the well-known "gun-show loophole" which allows people to purchase firearms at gun-shows without undergoing the background check required when guns are bought from licensed dealers. Lastly, I believe we must support increased gun-safety and gun-use education.

I support the Second Amendment and the rights of law-abiding Washingtonians who own guns. I also remain focused on addressing the deeply troubling violence in this country and making our state and our country as safe as possible for all people, including our most vulnerable citizens, our children. I believe both of these goals are important and can be simultaneously accomplished through common-sense gun laws and stricter enforcement of existing laws.

Along with addressing gun violence, making services for the mentally ill and their families more accessible will encourage those suffering from mental illness to seek needed care and support. Mental health care is a critical component of our healthcare system and an individual's overall health status. According to the National Institute of Mental Health, approximately one in 17 Americans suffers from a seriously debilitating mental illness. I care deeply about mental health care and understand the important role behavioral health services play in the lives of both those who suffer from mental illness and their family and loved ones.

thank you again for contacting me to share your thoughts on this matter. Please do not hesitate to contact me in the future if I can be of further assistance.

Sincerely,
Maria Cantwell
United States Senator"

Feinstein Holds Hearings on Gun and Magazine Ban

http://www.nraila.org/legislation/federal-legislation/2013/3/feinstein-holds-hearings-on-gun-and-magazine-ban.aspx

Keep calling and writing in opposition to this bill and all other anti-gun bills.  Go to the link at the bottom of the article; use the fast and easy method to communicate your opposition to your representatives.

http://www.nraila.org/get-involved-locally/grassroots/write-your-reps.aspx

Here is the text of the email you will send if you use the NRA-ILA write-your-reps tool.  Each time bills like S.150 move further through the process we should ALL write again.  We cannot allow this, or the other anti-gun bills to go any further!

Please use this tool.  It's doesn't get any easier than this to stand up and fight for your rights!

"While Senator Feinstein's proposal to ban semi-automatic firearms and standard capacity magazines is garnering the most attention, it is important to note that attacks on our Second Amendment rights are by no means limited to this one proposal.

As egregious as Sen. Feinstein's proposal is, as your constituent, I want to urge you to oppose any and all gun control proposals that have been, or will be, introduced.  We can expect a barrage of attacks on our Second Amendment rights to include not only gun bans, but:  attacks on gun shows; restrictions on the lawful purchase of ammunition; eliminating private transfers of firearms, even between family members; gun owner registration; and more.

The one thing all of these misguided proposals have in common is they won't reduce crime.  Criminals, by definition, are lawbreakers.  They are not deterred by laws against murder, rape, armed robbery, etc., and they won't be affected by additional gun control laws on top of the tens of thousands of existing laws we have on the books at every governmental level.

If you truly care about reducing crime and keeping our children safe, I ask you to oppose these gun control bills, and instead focus on improvements to our nation's mental health system and enhancing security at our schools.

Again, I urge you to oppose any and all gun control bills, and ensure you focus on those solutions that will actually achieve positive accomplishments, while respecting our Second Amendment rights.

Please reply to me with your position on these measures.  Your votes on these issues will be a major consideration in my future voting decisions.

Sincerely,"

Has there been an instance where a criminal purchased the firearm used in a crime at a gun show? I don't recall that the politicians have ever put forth an example of when that has happened. What criminal in his right mind would pay the gun show price when he could get a firearm on the street for less?

According to the Dept of justice website, this happens in just less than 2% of gun related violence.
