Title: beaver trapping question
Post by: vandeman17 on February 27, 2013, 04:38:56 PM
I have a question for you guys that are trappers. I don't have the foggiest idea about any of the rules so this is probably a dumb question but I thought I would ask the experts. Are there units or areas that are open and closed to trapping beavers? I am pretty sure there are seasons but I wasn't sure if there were units or anything like for big game. The reason I ask is one of our duck spots is getting hammered by some beavers and I am afraid they will make it unhuntable soon. I would love for someone to get rid of a few if possible and legal.

Their used to be some closed areas when I was younger. Since then though their has not been enough trapping pressure to hurt thepopulation in any one area. The closed areas pretty much went away 30 years ago. With less trappers and more damage the seasons have been getting longer too. When I first started the beaver/otter season was three weeks, now 5 months.
