Title: Thoughts on Isuzu Rodeo
Post by: Gunsmoke on February 27, 2013, 10:02:47 PM
I am going to look at a 2002 Isuzu Rodeo tomorrow and was wondering if anyone on here has had one or known someone with one and how well they held up. I'm just looking for a run around rig I can take in hills.

I put 235,000 miles on my rodeo before it started falling apart.

It was my daily driver for years.  I hunted out of it a lot.   As a 4X4 its nothing special, but it was not disappointing (like my Dodge Dakota was - the most bitterly disappointing 4X4 in the world!!!!)

I'd have no problem buying another one.

I had a Trooper. Used 1000 of miles hunting.  Good 4x4. Drove it every day.
Finally died with 180000. Sold it to a guy ,he had it running in a week. It is sill wandering around Skagit County.

That was 15 years ago.

They stopped making the Rodeo in 2004, so that makes me a little hesitant.

They were very successful commercially for a good number of years.  (Bodes well for the vehicle).

How many miles on it?

Auto or manual? At about 180,000 my brother had to rebuild the manual transmission in his. Other than that ran like a champ till he sold it at 285,000 miles. Pounded a lot of off-road in that thing.

The guy flaked out on me, he keeps making up excuses why he can't meet. Seems like he decided he doesn't want to sell it. :dunno:

Have an older Trooper, it has been put through the test, over 200,000, many tough miles, all major parts original, needs minor repairs now and then, had to do a clutch, timing belt, and head gasket, but I love it. I am looking for another one.
