Title: hang on stand weight
Post by: Giggles on February 28, 2013, 05:50:45 PM
Just wondering what a good weight is for a hang on stand.  On a few reviews of various brands, I noticed some people were complaining that 20-22 lbs was heavy.  I just bought 2 over the internet and thought the weight was 18 lbs, but they turned out to be 29 lbs.

That's a little heavy but it depends on how far you're packing them. I like to put my stands on a comfortable meat pack board with the bottom support bar. It makes them a hell of a lot easier to haul than the pack straps you usually get with the stands.

I've had a few but the best by far are my Lone Wolf stands.
Aside from being very quiet, these 3 weigh per each: 14, 14 & 17lbs.
I cable lock my two fixed stands to preselected trees and have the Assault Climber II for portability.
the separate 4 LW climbing sticks for the fixed stands weigh a total of 6lbs. but these go in/out with me while the fixed stands remain.

Thanx guys.  I'm tempted to return these monsters.  I rechecked the add and noticed that it never mentioned the weight.  Now I know why.

+1 for the Lone Wolfs. Although I'm not much of a tree stand hunter, I do love mine when I find an active wallow or trail.

For the comfy stands they will weigh more..just more options..Ill pack them in if they are in places that I will sit all day...if your not comfortable and its 22 deg out...it makes it very difficult to stay in it
