I know it's a long shot but figured I would ask.
I have been talking to them and they come highly recommended. I was wondering if anyone has put hands on them and what they think. They are working with me on the price as well so I am leaning on using one in my ultimate build I am starting on. I know they are super spendy but with the feeback I have heard already, they sound great.
I am going to be getting an rebel if I pull the trigger with them.
-
Yep! Amazing!
-
Thank you. How would you rate it on a scale to 1 to 10 for smoothness/finish/locking up etc?
-
I have never owned one or shot a rifle with one, I have handled several builds based off of one. As for price they are right in the ballpark with Stiller, BAT etc. I just have a thing for Rem700's, I would be better served just to go with complete custom action due to the fact when you ad up the cost of a Remington700, trueing, sako extractor, bolt handle, bolt fluting, 8-40 base holes etc. It would be easier just to purchase a custom and be done with it.
What cartridge are you looking to go with on this build?
-
Beefier then a 700, smooth as glass excellent finish. This is in a custom rifle also, so some good ole TLC from RBros Travis, puts it at 1-10, an 11!

Heres my .338 edge on a Defiance.
-
Grest and thanks for the thoughts guys.
As you probably know I am a huge 338 fan. That being said I am building this rifle to run with my titanium 30 cal can. So I am going with the 300 RUM.
I think some lr accubonds to feed it and of course my leupold vx3 lr. Either the 6.5-20 or 8.5-25 not sure yet.
McMillan A5
I am still trying to make up my mind on bottom metal. Of course it will either be wyatts or badger. What do you guys think. I have shot rifles with both and am kinda stuck in the middle.
Benchmark will be doing the build and putting one of there barrels on it. I would love to go 26" but I think that may be to long with a can on it. So I am leaning with going to a 24".
-
Depending on your powder of choice. A little stiffer, flitted barrel @ 24" should do you just fine. As would a 26" plus, Remington Sendero contour or larger. I don't know what you have in mind weight wise?
-
Building a carbon wrapped .338 Edge for my Thunderbeast Titanium can. Lone Wolf stock, 28" barrel. Should spec out between 7-7 1/2# bare. The 300 Ultra prototype with 24" came in at a hair over 5#.

I would like to see some groups out of that rifle with the can on it. Should be interesting.
-
Fully confident it will be a one holer, as the Shilen 25-06 and .300 Ultra prototypes have proven to be. Its all in how you build them! :)
-
"All in how you build them" hahaha! Ya think.. Always good for a laugh.

You guys crack me up.
I have no real weight limts. I would like to stay around 12 pounds or less. Most all of my magnums come in around 10+ pounds, so weight is not really a problem for me.
I figured my next would be a 338 edge but I got the 30 cal can instead :chuckle:
Going to cruch some numbers and maybe look more at the 300wsm for a short action as well. I am not looking for a extreme range gun as I already own several for that type of shooting. I am just wanting a gun I can pack and trust with enough ke to take large game at 600 yards or less. So I have put thought into 300wm 300wsm and 300 rum. I am not set in stone but have leaned towards the 300 rum.

The 300 WSM and the right Accubond will do exactly what your looking for. With a lot less powered, recoil and muzzle blast. Of course on a shorter action, I'm not into efficiency though. I don't mind burning powder, long actions or packing 18 lbs rifles. The 300 RUM would be my choice out of the chamberings mentioned, I would rather have more than enough rifle for any situation. I would also opt for a fluted seven contour or so with a 11 twist for the 30 cal. I prefer a little more speed than I do bullet weight at mid ranges for hunting or the accasional afternoon destroying Rockchucks.
Not every 30 cal or 338 needs to be slinging the heaviest VLD bullet you can find, the Accubonds have you covered for what your going to use it for.👍

You will be extremely happy with the Defiance receivers. They build our actions for us with our private labeling. They are extremely smooth and built solid.
-
Great and thanks guys

As Travis said, Defiance makes Rbros actions. Travis made a one off lefty for me and I love it!
-
Not a Defiance, just showing how much fun you'll have with your build! .338 edge, Thunderbeast 338BA. 300 matchking at 2950fps.
-
That is a dandy! I plan on running the new Lr accubonds threw this rifle as long it shoots them well. They only need 1300fps to maintain performance compared to 1800 with the standard accubonds. So as long as I can run them at 2900fps I will be happy. Not sure how much the can will knock off. I have not played with suppressors and ballistics before.
With either the 300 wsm or the 300 rum I don't think I will have any problems getting the to 2900fps. They have the 190's and 210's. Probably run the 190's in the 300wsm and 210 if I have more powder to burn in the 300 rum.
-
Well this is what it looks like for numbers by what I can come up with. Not sure what a can will do but I think I can stay with the 2900fps in both rifles.
300 RUM 210g Accubond LR 2900 fps muzzle
2644fps @ 200y 0 KE 3260
2407fps @ 400y -20 KE 2700
2180fps @ 600y -63 KE 2220
1971fps @ 800y -136 KE 1800
1775FPS @ 1K -245 KE 1460
300 WSM 190g Accubond LR 2900 muzzle
2600fps @ 200y 0 KE 2870
2340fps @ 400y -20 KE 2310
2090fps @ 600Y -66 KE 1843
1860fps @ 800y -145 KE 1453
1640fps @ 1k -262 KE 1140
The new LR stays at minimum bullet performance at 1300fps compared to 1800fps with the standard. So in all theory even thought I am looking at this gun being more of a 500-600 yard gun. It will still stay my minimum 1k KE to 100 yards and always be on the + side of minimum bullet preformace.
Out to 600 yards they are very close about 100 fps and 250lbs of KE differance. So in the wsm I would be getting a short action rifle. Little less powder and less recoil. If I wanted to do this rifle with it being good to 1k I could go to the 300 rum and make it so that I can without any problems get it to be a 1k gun.
I am still not sure what route to go.
