Jut wanted to know who's headed S.E to tucannon this spring.
My buddy insists we go there, because he swears Turks are everywhere along the area . If I could get some insight. From you kind gentlemen whether it would be a waste if time or not. As of now I'm all game , but I thought I TRY once again to pick your brains
-
Hope you are a social person and want to group hunt
-
There is alot of birds down there along the river that's for sure. Mostly private ground tho. There is a few chunks of feel free to hunt right along the river that i have seen turkeys on. Be prepared to poop your pants when you see how many other hunters are down there... Goodluck
-
:yeah: tons of birds and people
-
Ya know, I'm so new to this state.
And for the most part people are reluctant
To give info on the good spots. (absolutely understandable)
I'd rather get away from the people, but if its the only place in the
S. E. I can get one. I guess I'll have to settle .
-
You have to realize you are going to need to do some legwork. A lot of us have put many years into this to be successful. You aren't going to get some persons hot spot. Chalk this up to a learning year, go to one of the spots already talked about in one of your four threads and good luck I hope you guys get a couple birds.
-
There are a lot of birds there ! I have never hunted there so dont know how much pressure it gets. I have camped there and seen many birds. As Limhanger says most wont give up there spots, but sometimes you can come accross someone who has hunted turkey in many places of wash, and no longer lives there and doesnt mind sharing spots where birds are know to be. :hello:
If you live in Fedway, why would you go all the way to the cannon ? You just drove past lots of birds to get there.
-
I am we'll aware and MORE than willing to put in legwork by anyone's standards.
I am just so new to this area like I said and just wanted some quick info from experiences.
-
Apex predator..... You passin by walla walla to get to cannon? Or comin from Spokane area?
-
Coming from federal way , so walla walla if I'm not mistaken
-
Bro , I'm not on here trying to steal hot spots.
I here trying to talk to people who are friendly enough to
Give minor info, because like I said I'm new to the area.
-
If you dont want to go all that way, you could stop in Cle Ellum, Elensburg area, Elk hights too. Or if you want to take the river route hit Goldendale.
-
Have 2 spots in mind u can try when your over here. Walla is bout 45-1hr away from cannon but I can show you spots here and I know a land owner who is a relative who might allow you also.....his land is nice...over by waitsburg.

I wouldn't.
Take i-90 to 26 to Colfax to 127 to the Tucannon. Going through Walla Walla is the long way
That way you'll drive past several thousand turkeys too.
-
'twas what I was thinking but didn't know the whole trip expectations. Anyhow I am willing to show you that private land and the feel free you want.

:yeah: lots of turkey closer to you. In Tucannon, I would say moderate amount of turkeys, High amount of hunters...hence, the "good luck," but I really do mean - Good luck! I hope you get one wherever you go. IMO, you would save hundreds of dollars and have just as much chance (or better) by going to Cle Elum/Ellensburg area.
-
ya know.... cle elum sounds good , because i didnt WANT to go all that way.
ill see if i can convince my buddy its not a good idea.
thank you for the input
-
When does the snow break up in the cle elum area ? Will it still be there around April 20th?
-
I would think it would be gone by then, but if it is not, the turkeys will still make noises...when they are ready to go, they are ready to go. plus, tracking and finding turkey in the snow can be easier.
-
A couple of years ago, I was in the Tucannon drainage only to find hundreds of mushroom hunters. I could not get far enough from the roads and they were still around, yelling, calling, whistling.
If the mushroom hunters are around, I would think of a plan B.
