Title: Thanks RadSav
Post by: Smossy on March 25, 2013, 10:18:30 PM
Gonna have to make a big dedication to this guy as hes been one of my biggest mentors, If you don't already know - hes a really great dude and I recommend everyone having a conversation with him at least once.
Hes been a huge help in getting me worked out with my archery skills and my form.
Tonight was a good night and I know I post a lot, but this one I feel like cant go without saying/posting...
Thanks RadSav for everything.
I appreciate people like you.
Managed to peel and stick a fletching right off of one of my arrows.

Tonight I took to heart a few things we discussed and these are the results of a little night time practice at 35 yards.

Two different sets of 3 arrows shots, back to back.

Looks like your going to need to start shooting at a Vegas face!  Good work   I better go find that fletching I promised you :chuckle:  Will be in the mail tomorrow along with those maps ;)  Proud of you brother.  Not an easy thing to take words and put them into effective function.

Doing what you said totally goes against everything that feels natural, I had to fight myself to get my hands to cooperate.
But man does it make a difference.

After fighting it for a few weeks it will become second nature.  Then it will be hard for you to believe you shot any other way.

I started out shooting fingers with my bow canted and my index finger in the corner of my mouth.  Shot that way for almost a decade before switching to sights and lowering my anchor below my chin and moving the bow vertical.  Now every couple of years I start to forget how to aim properly at animals.  So back to aiming basics and shooting the bare bow for a few weeks.  Hard for me to believe that was once second nature to me.  Then after those two weeks it's back to relearning the release and low anchor again.

The mind does not like change.  Even if the results you see are advantageous.  But, if done properly the mind will soon accept it.  And you will grow stronger as a result...  But heck, who knows that better than you :chuckle:

I second RadSav's value to this forum and it's members.  While I've never met him in person, he has done more for me than any person in my life outside of maybe my parents.  I'm not a religious person by any means but, if there's a heaven, there's a special seat up there for RadSav.  I just hope it stays empty for many more years. :)

All joking aside.  I wanted to say I'm humbled by all for the very kind words.  Even if I'm not so sure I deserve them.

I'm a little uncomfortable taking credit when it comes to Smossy and his improved shooting.  I did nothing to apply his hard work and dedication to improve.  That's 100% him.  Giving me credit for that is like praising my driving even though all I did was hold the map in the passengers seat.

I can only give advise to those who will listen.  And I appreciate knowing I haven't just been talking to myself.  Thank you.

I agree. RadSav is a good human. Haven't personally met the guy but he heard my cry on here about a sight i ordered online. The sight never came after about 8 weeks. He with out any hesitation sent me a sight....free! Again, Thank you RadSav for being such a good person. We could use more people like you in this F'd up world. Cheers!!!
