Two wolves on game camera in Pitcher Canyon...feeding on an elk carcass.

(Just found the same link in the Entiat wolves thread). “To be honest, these wolves may have existed there (in Chelan County) for more than a year,” he said. “We’ve been getting reports here and there of people having seen a wolf or tracks or hearing howls.” --Dave Volson, WDFW

The Yakama tribe better get in there and kill those wolves. They're going to eat all the tribe's trophy elk. :yike:

Read the pro wolf comments on that news arrival! :puke:

It's only about a 10 mile jaunt for the pack to get to the Coffin which is the mostly off-limits to people elk preserve.
That's like an all-you-can-eat gig for two groups right there.

It's not gonna be much of a preserve anymore, is it?
Unless the wolves learn how to read, and stay out because the signs say no hunting.

The closest known wolf pack is the Teanaway pack near Cle Elum. The female wolf had been a member of that pack.
I wonder if that's the same female that used to be a member of the Lookout pack that relocated herself to the Teanaway a few years ago.

Wasn't that one collard?

Now that you mention it, I guess she was.

I moved over to Wenatchee a few years back and love it here. I was really enjoying learning the area so that I could have some good hunting close to home. It seems that all my spots now are becoming overrun with wolves. It really makes me sad to think about what it will be like down the road. My dad always talks about the good old days and how many deer/elk/ducks whatever they saw. I was always amazed compared to what I saw at that time. Now it appears that THOSE were the good old days and my kids are going to see the change that I did... :yike:

Yes but just think how much better the wolf hunting will be for your kids!

I am going to toughen up my first boy by giving him a knife and a few matches and sending him off into the woods. He won't be able to return without a wolf pelt :chuckle: That is how he will earn his stripes

Wow....What is almost as interesting as the wolves being in Pritcher Canyon is a nice bull elk. I spend a lot of time in them thar hills and have never seen an elk that low before. I guess with the weather and wolves they could be in my yard soon (east wenatchee). :chuckle:
-
that makes the 10th confirmed pack......... Bummer. This is going to get ugly.
-
I am truly surprised that no one has begun to poison these wolves off....

Knock! Knock! Bobcat, looks like your going to have company soon!!!

goes without saying that this is not good for the colockum/mission/swakane/entiat/entire wenatchee valley hunting. what amazes me is the copious amounts of ignorance by the wolf loving leaf lickers. one person said that this will "manage the elk herd and make them stronger" and that "the elk herd in yellowstone is at an all time high" of coarse im paraphrasing.
yeah the colockum herd is doing so well that it is one of the most regulated herds in the entire state (im not pointing fingers just saying)
and the yellowstone elk herd is so vivacious and prominent that even park bios are saying that the elk are at an all time low mostly due to introduction of wolves. ask anyone that elk hunts in MT, WY, or ID about the elk numbers and i almost guarantee that they will tell you that they are dissmal. i heard it myself here in Bozo every elk hunter i talked to last season said they saw more wolves/wolf sign than elk

That puts them a 2 hour drive from my back door. Another hour to Seattle give or take a few minutes for traffic.

:'( :'( :'( :'( :chuckle: Yeah right, you already have lots of the same wolves on the Westside and I'm sure you know it.

that puts them 5 minutes from my backdoor, and I am least fracking impressed.

I don't have any evidence of any over here by me. Wenatchee is closer than any of the alleged reports from this side that I've ever seen. Except that one that was reported in North Bend. That one is closer than Wenatchee but I think he might have fell out of a truck or something on it's way east.
:dunno:
-
Like I've said many times before, I saw three wolves near Lake Wenatchee in 1990, so wolves being in the Wenatchee area certainly is not just a recent phenomenon. I'm surprised it took them this long to get into the Colockum.
-
Hmmmm....this is just a couple of miles from my house.

It's only a matter of time. Then the wolves will get sympathy and no doubt any talks of hunting them will be shelved. I hope I'm wrong.
-

Are you talking lead or Strychnine poisoning? I am surpised that more people aren't finding a way to smuggle it to control the wolf populations. Heck it worked back in the day!

No need to smuggle strychnine when you can pick up ethylene glycol by the gallon at any corner mart.

I think Parvo would work better. I am hearing rumors that they got a cow as in beef in the last day or so. Waiting to find the report.

There's a thread on here, Doug. Not a rumor.

I used to hear Elk in the winter in the orchards and pastures south of my house. Orchards are pretty much gone now--houses there now. Used to hear coyotes answering the sirens on the emergency vehicles from the side of Stemilt Hill. haven't heard them lately--guess now I know why... >:(

Fixed it for ya! Don't forget true spike only when they're reading

SEATTLE — A new wolf pack — the Wenatchee Pack – has been confirmed in the state, the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife said.
That makes 10 confirmed wolf packs in Washington state.
The new pack was confirmed just east of the Teanaway Pack. Two wolves traveling together were confirmed via a remote-camera photograph on March 24, the department said on its website.
“The Wenatchee Pack has at least two members – as confirmed by remote-camera photographs on March 24, 2013. One member of the pack is suspected to be a 1.5-year-old female that dispersed from the Teanaway Pack. The female wolf was observed in the Entiat Mountains of Chelan County on February 11, 2013. The female wolf was captured by WDFW staff in the Teanaway in September 2011 as a juvenile and ear tags (#16) were placed in both ears.
“We suspect the dispersing female from the Teanaway pack (with red ear tags) is one of the members of the Wenatchee Pack,” the department said on its website. “There has been other documented wolf activity in the area consistent with the movement patterns of a pack.”
