Title: Ultra-Lite Conversion
Post by: Sabotloader on March 26, 2013, 04:42:57 PM
Today was the day, I converted the Western Edition Ultra-Lite, to the rifle what most of the rest of the US can use for muzzleloader hunting. And/or what I can use here in Idaho during the regular rifle season.  I think you can do this in Washington also during the rifle season - but do not know for sure.

Really was a pretty easy matter, just switch out breech plugs and bolt, remove the peep sight and install the new scope.

(https://hunting-washington.com/smf/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fv130%2Fsabotloader%2FKnight%2520Ultra-Lite%2FConvComposite.jpg&hash=31c7c592262d4d1e3e3591046874ecab7bc199ea)

With any luck - the weather will hold and I can get to the farm tomorrow to get the scope sighted in...

Hey Sabotloader,

I bought the weaver scope mounts and rings from knight for my disk extreme.  I noticed you put the NECG peep on your Ultralight.  I'm thinking of ordering one if you like yours.  I'm surprised they're almost $90. :yike:

Anyway, the screws that detach your scope mounts seem to be something you can remove without a hex wrench?  If so, where did you get them and will they fit my knight scope rings?

Thanks,

Kerrdog

The $90 you are talking about is the norm for that sight.  I got mine from Brownell's.

You need a 'TORX' head screw driver to turn those screws. I think it will be a T15 Torx head.  And then you might also be correct it could be a allen head screw...

This is what a Torx tip looks like...

Other wise it is probably a 7/64" allen head wrench

Do your release from the bases without a tool?

Do your release from the bases without a tool?

I think I am missing what you might be asking....

But, my scope detaches from the Weaver style bases by turning a lever on the scope rings... You can see the levers in this picture.

(https://hunting-washington.com/smf/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fv130%2Fsabotloader%2FMntCapper-1.jpg&hash=2c19ec3b1ae50a6ba3856917944fcf684a19c704) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/sabotloader/media/MntCapper-1.jpg.html)

Once the scope is removed then the NECG install on the scope base with a large thumb screw.  On the opposite side of the sight there are two allen head screws that you use for adjusting the windage correction of the sight.

You can see most of this in this picture...

(https://hunting-washington.com/smf/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fv130%2Fsabotloader%2FKnight%2520Ultra-Lite%2FIMG_2225.jpg&hash=cf3d4320192545554f121903edea77b8ae17fcf2) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/sabotloader/media/Knight%20Ultra-Lite/IMG_2225.jpg.html)

The scope bases in this case a Warne Weaver style steel bases and the install on the receiver with Torx screws.

Am I getting any closer to answering your question?

Yes! I want that exact setup.  My scope bases from knight are aluminum, and the scope rings are too.  And I must say, they are kinda junky. Can you send me the link of where to buy those scope rings and bases?

Thanks

I really do like the peep approach vs. the wide open front sight + with the hood on the front sight it makes it kinda like you might be shooting a 1x scope.

I did add a couple more parts and pictures to the list in the post shown above...

Wellllll, when you get ready give a shout I have a Bushnell 3x9x40 Elite with a Ballistic Reticule - I would part with.  It is slightly or lightly used...

This is the scope...
