Pack in is actually scheduled on Friday the 13th of Sept thru the end of the season Sept 22nd. Would need to drive down on Thursday and stay at Cornucopia Lodge (or nearby) for early departure on Friday.

Hi Pete,
Not sure I'll be getting out much anytime soon. Wife had Ovarian cancer back in Sept 2011 and we went thru Surgery and then Chemo from Oct. until end of March 2012. Unfortunately, she was just re-diagnosed w/Stage IV Peritoneal Cancer (similar to Ovarian, but much worse). Surgery is not an option this time, as it's too diffuse throughout abdominal cavity. So, started Chemo again on the 27th of March, which is just the beginning of 4 to 6 months of Chemo. Four to six months gets us into August or end of Sept., which is why I won' be able to disappear into the Oregon backcountry this Sept.
Chemo is only intended to stop progression of peritoneal cancer and even after the 4 to 6 month dosing she will require monthly maintenance doses of chemo to keep it at bay as long as possible. Dr's call it progression free survival (PFS). But, at some point, cancer will become resistant to treatment. We (and Dr's) are still hopeful that PFS period will be measured in years. But, median survival for Stage III or IV Peritoneal cancer is 12 to 24 months, including PFS timeperiod. So, we are also praying for a miracle.
