Must be some young cats?
-
Where mother? Kitten Look like 25-40 lbs being on their own, wonder what happen to mother. :dunno:

It looks like the coyotes are wondering the same thing. :chuckle: I know that a House Cat is like a dish of ice cream to a coyote. If a pack of coyotes can gang up on these kittens, it's party time!
-
No idea, but cool pic.
-
Predators see other predators as competition. To the coyotes that is just a tender meal. I am positive they will kill and eat them if they can. There are several studies that show that coyotes will eat domestic cats. Not much difference from one cat to another other than size and attitude.
Another interesting tidbit. Cougars are know to eat coyotes.
-
Hunter might shot mother cat somewhere and didnt know she have kittens around so kittens trying to survive on their own.
-
This is why one needs an AR type rifle, four predators at once :dunno:
-
Those cats are scared, wonder what happened.
-
Its scenarios like this that make me wonder how much flack I would get for shooting one of the "kittens". As far as I can tell, there is no spots anywhere on either cat so I would think that would make them fair game for hunters. Hate to really stir the pot on this but if I ran into a cat that size (yes, they are small) and had no spots, it would get and arrow through its lungs. :twocents:
-
Lucky cats to be on that pole fence. Those 'yotes are no slouches to be sure. That on in the back is jumbo.
-
Those lion cubs would be one heck of a handful for those yotes, even as small as they are.
I suspect the yotes been harrassing those kittens for a good long while.
-
cool pic...I wouldn't think those yotes would be able to kill those kittens even though they are little grown cats are know to kill wolves so I wouldn't think 2 coyotes would be able to take 2 kittens might be a good fight though
-
Pretty cool picture indeed a hawk 2 yotes and 2 cougars in one pic! I know that the coyotes will kill a bobcat when they get a chance so I would think if there was a couple of them they would probably kill a small lion. I have also heard of a few lions eating yotes in the winter.

:yeah:

lb for lb cats whoop a$$, must have been more coyotes not pictured for them to be so scared.
-
there were 5 of them. Wolves intimidate cats all the time. There might have been some history here. Little cats though, just like hyenas and LIONS I suppose, if you get enough of them.

Those are 5-6" round posts, them is some kittens right there. a tom or a full size cat would pimp slap a yote like it was a ball of yarn :chuckle:
-
Kittens maybe the coyotes would have a chance. Full grown cat, no way. It would be like Obama against the great Cassius Clay!
-
Interesting. Never seen anything like that before.

:chuckle: Good eye  Never noticed the hawk :dunno: :hello:

I could see the cats staying there when the people were taking pictures. Weird to see coyotes just standing around like that. Most of the time at least in this part of the country if they hear a rig even start to slow down they are running for the next county :chuckle:
-
a full-grown cougar would be a no-no for coyotes to tackle, but kittens--easy pickin's. There's probably just the two coyotes around, since at this time of year they are usually paired up for mating, and protective of their territory...
-
The original article said 5. :dunno: It was on the boundary fence of a game preserve. :dunno:
-
They look a little stressed :chuckle: Nice to see the cats on the other side of things for once :chuckle:

Ya, but I figured it was from the people taking the picture. The kitten in the lower portion is hiding it's head in a classic "you can't see me" pose.
The top kitten is stressed at the camera as well, only has one ear flicked back to the yotes.
The human/s are the thing scaring these kitties
-
I don't know. I would think more of it as the 5 yotes that are messing with them :dunno:
-
Sorry...didn't read the article. Just looked at the picture. Regardless, it looks like the cats are stuck between the hated coyotes and the hated humans. :chuckle:
-
They wouldn't have much luck with an adult lion of course. That would likely turn out bad for the coyotes. Full grown lion can kill a lone wolf. Adult deer will run off a couple coyotes. Lots of variables though. Age, number of animals involved, etc. No set in stone rules depending on the variables.
-
One more reason hunters should not kill female lions. They have young almost 70% of the time and can have kittens any time of the year.
