Hey every one new to the site. This is going to be my first year bow hunting elk not asking any 1 were to go I already know the unit and area I'm going to hunt. Just asking what is to early to start scouting been up in the area once already seen lots of elk just hope thay don't open the gates during the season. Thanks

Never too early. Learning an elk herd is a time taker for sure and even more critical for an archery guy. Good luck. Welcome to the site

My understanding is that the most successful guys never stop scouting. Welcome to the site! Lots of great helpful people on here.

The only reason to NOT scout now would be if the snow makes it impossible to get in there. Otherwise I don't think there's such a thing as too early. But, if you have to choose between going now, or going later, say if you only have time to make one trip to your area, then I would go immediately prior to your season.
