How is everyone i know Turkey Season is VERY CLOSE so a quick"?" for Ya'll. Which are the pro's and Con's for each. I am using the Pentagon Blind. Here is my thing wouldn;t a blind be better, true you can;t see as much, but can't you move more? or is a Stitting on the ground better, yeah you can see more but you can't move at all... what are ya'll opinons? :peep:

Unless the weather is crappy or I have kids with me I sit under a tree. It feels.more like I am a part of the woods that way.

Makes sense i guess.... but ya know in Wa ya never know how the weather will change.... :camp:

Are you hunting with a bow or shotgun?
I use a blind often if I am bowhunting, but never if I am hunting with a shotgun.
If your hunting with a shotgun, Mobility is worth way more then the concealment a blind would offer. Just hold still

Ground for sure. How else are you going to have a better chance at picking up some hitch hikers?
-
lol , but i am using a shot gun, to ensure i get the first turkey and then i am going to hunt bow the rest of the time for turkey .

I carry a 12 ft long adjustable height ground blind (24 to 48 inches) which leaves me free to move quickly and without carrying a lot of weight. I use my pop-up 3 man blind if taking out kids, in cold and or rainy weather (like during the late season), or if I was going to shoot my bow. I also go without either and have had good success by remaining fairly motionless including sitting out on a totally open, exposed slope.
So the answer to me is ... it depends on what you're doing and how far are you going ,,,,, :dunno:

thanks for the help the fact is i know my range of sight is severly lessened... b/c i think i would only open one window in the blind.... would you open up more or just the one the the lane your shooting. :dunno:

I open the front and 1 side I think the turkeys will come from only ... you don't want to silohette yourself by opening opposite windows though ...

I like a blind some times. I use a hub blind for all the reasons above. The thing is with hunting, don't be afraid to try a different way. Folks have success some times and they get hung up. I like to change the game. Keeps me engaged. Keeps my hunting partners engaged because it gives them another reason to buy something new.
A blind and a ground pad are always in my truck. Adapt.

i am going to bring and extra one like a little roll up on... as well that i use to duck hunting... it's all beat up and it was like 24 bucks.. i use it for everything even deer... so i might give it a try with the Turkey as well....
-
I personally hunt blind, I let my seeing eye dog let me know when the tom's close! :sry:
-
i plan to use a blind. from what i am hearing it's the best way to go..... i just heard alot of people talking about how great it was to sit on the ground... but i hear how thier success is so limited b/c they had a scratch or something... and they are getting ticks... where people in the blind are having greater sucess and less of a tick issue.
-
Nasty critters ... I haven't had a tick problem in over a decade since I started using tick spray prior to the season on the clothes, boots, gloves, facemask, etc. paying special attention to opens at cuffs, waist, neck, etc.

Think i am going to do the same.. i am from louisiana origianlly and we got some Nast big ticks there... so yeah i am gonna get prepped the same way and they should keep these liberal nw ticks off me :chuckle: but yeah not a tick fan.

it can be hard to move up on a gobbler with a tent!
