Title: High Country elk?

im looking into elk hunting but i want a high country elk hunt and i am wondering what area do the elk migrate up and down the mountains?

The migrational animals generally go as high as the terrain and the weather allow. In the Cascades that would be probably be around 6,000 to 8,000 feet elevation in places.

Somewhere in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest I bet you could find some elk in the high country.

Are you wanting to hunt archery, muzzleloader, or rifle season?

Just remember, if you shoot an elk in the high country, you usually have to haul him/her a long way down to the low country where you parked your truck.
