Title: Early start to youth turkey

Just getting packed for youth turkey. Archery. Everything set, just going to get a few hours of sleep before getting up at 2:15 AM for a 6 1/2 hour drive...

Saturday & Sunday .... but he may be going over early to scout and roost some birds ... wishing him good luck !

I was going to take my son over and the wife set up a late Easter Breakfast for this Sunday.  Bummed out.

Bow Boy and I are scouting Gobblers today and Friday.  Then hopefully we'll be ready for Sat/Sun.

I am in colville area this weekend with my son for the youth hunt.  Birds sure are silent, won't gobble or locate for anything.

A lot of flocks are gone that used to be here and a lot of birds are close in to farm feeding operations this early, keep covering ground till you find birds, they are out there.

  Yeah you need to adjust your thinking alittle when it comes to early birds...Try getting permission from a farmer where you see some birds ....If he says YES then ask him where the birds have been hanging out ...they always know when and where the birds are ....if he tells you then go hang out and let the birds come to you ....Not going to call a whole flock up to you if you have not had the experience doing so ....not many farmers will turn down a kid when asking for permission to kill turkeys , just be sure he is holding your hand when knocking on the door  :tup:
