Social Media,
I know I am probably not gonna make a bunch of friends with this one, but in principle, I hope you see my point. I have read a number of posts here with comments about social media like Face Book, Twitter, etc. Like, “I don’t do that crap” or “it’s a big waste of time”. Yet we have time to come here and rattle our sabers and pound our chests? When you post your views on sites like this, you’re preachin to the choir. What, maybe 2 % here lean to the left? And those are probably being led around by the nose by some union hack. Social media sites reach a lot of people these days, many who are open to new ideas and different thinking. We need to be out there sowing the seeds of thought in as many reachable people as we can. We need to take advantage of every medium we can to reach people. The mainstream media will not allow your views to be heard. Ya gotta find another way to be heard. Letters to the editor, where I am, are a waste of time, unless written by someone on the right, who they can make appear to be a certifiable crackpot, they hit the circular file. However, left wing news like Yahoo allows you to refute left wing ideology and allows it to stand. You can do the same on Face Book and twitter. As a body, we gotta do more than preach to the choir, we gotta get out there and refute what the left wing media is cramming down peoples throats. Opsec be damned, I don’t want to live out my remaining years in fear of some person of supposed authority, banging on my door to collect what is not theirs.

You make a good point.

JJD, although I applaud your enthusiasm, I don't think you're getting a true picture of the activism that happens from the peoples' participation on this site. Judging from the low number of posts you have, I would guess that you've been coming here a fairly short time and don't understand that there's a large group of people here, including my self, who not only write their elected officials on a regular basis, but use email and the social media that you've mentioned to get the word out to our friends, family, and community. Many of us also attend, even testify at hearings and events. The discussions are for us here. But there are plenty of actions that we take elsewhere. This particular category (Gun Rights & Hunters Alerts) is full of threads that not only signal the charge, but contain useful tools to help people contact their elected officials in a simple and speedy way. And, I'm in no way saying we have all of the participation that we could possibly get, either. But I think you'll find this to be a very active organization of people.
I encourage you to add to these alerts and participate in them as they come out. If you see a new threat, feel free to post and include the tools necessary to make it easy for people to contact their appropriate elected officials for that specific threat. Thanks for your participation and activism.

P man,
Although I have not posted here much in the past, I do come here and read posted material on a regular basis. As well, I too have used links from this forum to gain or share information And if I made it sound like this site was a waste of time, that was certainly not my intention. Grass root is where any movement of consequence must begin, here is as good as anywhere else. Just saying that the belief that social media is a waste of time, may lead to an important missed opportunity to reach others.
I appreciate your feedback.

I agree with you that social media resources work. Thanks.
