Title: LCP vs Bodygaurd
Post by: gallion_t on April 04, 2013, 10:43:22 AM: I lucked out and my girlfriend let me pick my birthday present out of a few options, one of which being a new gun. Of course this is the option I chose. I'm looking for a little concealed carry gun and the two I'm really interested in are the Ruger LCP and the S&W Bodyguard. I've only been able to get my hands the the LCP at this point to feel the trigger and see how it fits in my hands. I'll wait until I can hold the bodyguard as well. My question for everyone is how reliable are both of these guns? I've read that the bodyguards had feeding issues after a couple hundred rounds right when they came out, but haven't found any reviews in the last couple years about that problem. Anything you guys can tell me about the functionality of either of these guns I love to hear.

They have a long double action trigger pull but are very accurate if you know how to shoot. The Bodyguard just seemed higher quality and fit better in the hand.

My buddy has the bodyguard and loves it too. He hasnt had any feeding issues that he's told me about. I like the sights on the bodyguard a lot more because it actually has them. Both are pretty solid choices though.

Also, I have to be careful that my thumb doesn’t hit the mag release when I grip it. Otherwise it can turn into a single shot.

Reliable? Very reliable, goes bang every time.

Which means if you have a round in the chamber and under a stressful situation you inadvertently hit the mag release and drop the mag, your gun WILL NOT FIRE! I was going to get one until I learned this. :yike:

You can talk about trigger pull and all the other little stuff, but if used for what it is designed for there will be no difference felt.

The LCP is a pocket gun final resort, chips down, seconds to live, go to gun. Press it against the bad guys chest and empty it.
Under those conditions trigger pull or any thing else except jamming will not be any thing you feel or worry about.

I have 200 rounds through it and no issues.

But hey I have never met a gun I did not like. :twocents:

Im not so much concerned with the trigger pull as I am with the functionality and reliability of it. With both of these guns being carry guns and not range guns im not finding reviews after large round counts.

I like the features of the bodygaurd better, thumb safety and the slide locks open. I wish they made a version that doesnt have a laser on it. In a last option situation im not going to be fumbling around with a laser. It would be nice if they made a version without the laser for a little bit cheaper price. I feel like I will go with the bodyguard unless it just feels horrible in my hands.

HAD an LCP for some time, got rid of it cause follow up shots were not easy and overall shooting it was difficult compared to my S&W J frame. Functioned perfect though no matter what I fed it, Cor-bons were my go to HP but the recoil would almost pop the gun out of my grip and I would have to reposition my grip even with the mag extension. lightweight as can be though great EDC gun.
