Title: Youth season question?
Post by: HornHoarder on April 07, 2013, 09:21:25 AM
Can the youth hunters take 2 birds during youth season? Of course two tags are needed. My son got one yesterday, and wants to hunt today. Couldn't find anything in the regs.

Same rules as us, they could  shoot two atonce if they wanted

I wondered the same. The kids can only shoot one back in Missouri, so that is what we are used to. Several people told us WA could only shoot one, but I couldn't find that any where in the regs, or under the WAC code... so I assume they can shoot two.

Here's what I found in the regs:

A total of three (3) turkeys in the spring season with following
restrictions: Only two (2) turkeys may be taken in eastern Washington
and only one (1) of those may be taken in Chelan, Kittitas, and
Yakima counties (combined); only one (1) turkey may be taken in
western Washington per year outside of Klickitat County. Two (2)
turkeys may be taken in Klickitat County.

Here is more info on subject:

A youth spring turkey season for hunters under 16 years of age
will be held on April 6-7, 2013.
The youth season is open in ALL GMUs.
Standard hunting methods (shotgun or bow and arrow only) and
all other turkey hunting regulations apply to the youth season
