Title: buck series
Post by: boneaddict on August 09, 2007, 06:28:56 PM: This was about 1988 in the Methow Valley, and I was packing my 35mm Canon Ae1 with a 35 to 125 mm lens. Needless to say, not much zoom. After basketball practice on the weekend I would head to the slopes. I saw ths guy and the stalk began. thats the Methow in the foreground, right outside Carlton. Now its NO Trespassing.

Post by: boneaddict on August 09, 2007, 06:37:35 PM: This is one of y favorite pictures of alltime, and one of the first I ever blew up. About the time this was taken, I noticed the other buk in the picture to the right. Funny how you miss thos sort of things. I was so intent on the on buck.

Very cool pics!! My grandpa used to live right on the Methow River between Carlton and Twisp. He had 15 acres of alfalfa that a local farmer would cut during the summer (my grandpa fished in Alaska in the summer). He would leave the last cutting of alfalfa for the deer and we would regularly see over a 100 deer in his field at night when we would come over in the winter. That is some awesome country!!

Its a wonderful place to grow up. It has changed a ton since those days, and most of the "locals" have passed on and or moved out. Now the new California "locals" run the place. Feels kind of weird when I am up there. I sure miss the country though.

I tried to do a internet search to pull up their old address but couldn't find anything. I'll have to ask them the address and some neighbor's names next time I talk to them. I miss that place too. Post by: sisu on August 16, 2007, 01:53:59 PM: I've been let alone in the warehouse, office etc. I'm answering phones, making appointments, doing inventory, ordering for the next weeks work, so I shut one line off and just kept the customer posted line open. :chuckle: For 10 bucks an hour that'll do. Good part though I learned a lot this summer and now I can build, trouble shoot, or repair irrigation systems.

They had 15 acres (most of which was alfalfa) right on the river. There was pole building shop that was probably about 3000 sq ft and they put a manufactured home in around 1990 or so. Their neighbors last name was O'Brian. Ring any bells??

Post by: boneaddict on August 20, 2007, 06:55:36 PM: Only ones I can think of are right by my favorite fishing hole on the river, and it fits the description, and the name even seems familiar, but I thought it was on the west side of the river, or the back county road, not on the main hwy.

Idabooner, The deer were so thick around there. I can remember driving the 3 1/2 miles (from the highway) to my grandparents house and it was disappointing if you didn't see at least 30 deer. There were times when you could see close to 100 deer in that stretch of road.

I'll have to pull out some old pictures and see if I can give you guys a better description.
