Either use a 338-06AI, 35 Whelen AI or 6.5-06AI.

I have a .257 A.I., but it has never seen the woods... I custom built it myself and it is just toooooooooo pretty  :rolleyes:to get all dinged up in the brush.
However, it does shoot 1/2 in. or less groups at 200 yrds.

how do you like the cartridge? i thought about reaming the 03 out to the 06AI

I Love that .257 A.I. I am getting 25-06 ballistics from that small case, using a 115 gr bullet. :IBCOOL: :IBCOOL:
That said, I did build it on a long action, so I could seat the bullets out where they belonged, and to be able to almost get a full load in the casing. I do not have any pressure problems at all, and like I said above, it flat shoots.

I like it. Ballistics aren't too far off from a std 6.5-06, but the brass is easier to reload (less trimming). Plus, having an Ackley is cool & different! :dunno: :bdid: ;)

I use a .280 Ackley. Not sure if there are too many others though.

I want to get a 22-250 ackley, or maybe a .223 :dunno:
