I think I would go with Observatory simply because I know that area the best and think I could have the most chances to scout it out. I think they all have similar chances to shoot a decent bull but it depends on how much time you can spend learning each one.  :twocents:

well ill let the cat out of the bag, my boss drew the hunter ed incentive tag for any elk units 336-368 382 388. he can hunt any open season including all special permit hunts he just has to use the method used in that open season. our problem is where to concentrate our efforts in scouting. with such a large area with big bulls being possible throughout. he is a meat hunter for the most part so this is his chance to get that one bull of a lifetime.

looks like scouting for his tag this summer will be my work out plan for getting in shape for my Montana hunt!  :IBCOOL:

With that tag he should be able to get a really nice bull in any of those units. I have seen some pretty big bulls in there over the last few years. Just make sure he is patient and waits for that bull that makes him happy!

I would say rifle rut tag in peaches and if he doesn't get anything move to observatory for muzzleloader and if he still doesn't get anything hunt Nile or bethel for the rifle bull tag... And if hasn't found one by then maybe it's time to take up a new hobby...
I would say he shouldn't shoot anything under 350 though

GOOD LORD. I'm tempted to guide you into my Observatory honey hole with a rut rifle tag, if you promised I'd never see you in there again. I am yet to see another hunter there and call in bulls (some are bruisers!) regularly.

see theres the problem, so much area all with good prospects. i think we are going to pick an area and concentrate on that area.
rtspring has been a huge help already trying to narrow down an area to concentrate our efforts. still gona keep our ears to the ground though. its gona be a very busy summer!

I would honestly hunt 368 rifle rut hunt.
:yeah:  368 is very conducive to calling with a rifle.  The more open the country the more time you can possibly have to size up an animal and with a rifle you don't really need to call one in you just gotta get him to step out and take a look!  A friend of a friend had this tag a couple years ago and shot a dandy out of 368.
