Title: Which would you pick if buying a new bow
Post by: Bowflinger on April 19, 2013, 11:37:04 AM: My buddy is looking for a new bow and is considering one of these bows. Anybody shot these and what do you think is the better bow. Any info I'll pass along to him. thanks

Post by: mtbiker on April 19, 2013, 03:35:13 PM: I went have the Spyder Turbo because of draw cycle and weight of the bow. Also, I liked the black riser, camo limb option (yes, vanity). The Insanity was a very, very close second. I came very near just flipping a quarter.

The choice came down to the things I read and heard about the companies, customer service, bow problems, ect. In the end, I think it just comes down the the one that feels best and the one you like the best because they are all quality bows.

Hoyts and most bows should be yoke tuned if you want your rest at recommended centershot. Hoyts tend to need a little more pre lean than others, especially the turbos. Your top cam should barely lean this direction \ at rest when looking from behind on a right handed hoyt, this is normal and they wont tune without it. At full draw the cam will straighten out.

That said, I think they are all good bows and you need to shoot the ones that piqué your interest and get the one that that feels best to you.

Post by: RadSav on April 20, 2013, 06:32:29 PM: I assume the poll Bear archery 6 / 7 means the Motive 6 or Motive 7 and the Insanity CPX does not include the CPXL? IF that is the case Motive 7 for me. If CPXL that makes the decision a little tougher. Better grip on the CPXL, but the Motive 7 has less vibration - basically same speed. Motive 7 should be about $100.00 cheaper. Not sure the CPXL grip is $100 better :dunno:

I'm a huge fan of Sim's DZ series. And the prototype of the Proton was outstanding! But the production model just fell short of what the prototype was. Mine had a lot of cam lean (which I hear they have corrected) and I do not like the Torqueless grip. Still a good bow, but I'll take the DZ-32 any day, any where, any hunt over the Proton. But archery is my business so I do tend to be anal retentive about my equipment.

Yes the carbon bows will tune with very little pre lean. But I was answering a question about the turbo and yes, they tend to tune with more pre lean at REST. The lean im talking about is hardly noticable and you can only tell by placing an arrow on the left side of the cam. They all end up with no cam lean at full draw if everything is set up correctly.

I shoot a dz 32 as well and love it but, Limbsaver has had problems with getting people there orders.(so i have heard) I was thinking of getting a proton but decided that my bow is just fine.

Don't know how they hold up as they were reasonably new.
Talk about smooth, quiet and a very nice back wall. If I were upgrading, I'd be giving this bow some serious consideration.
