Title: sheep hunt permit?
Post by: thegamejr on April 19, 2013, 05:12:55 PM: How would you go about getting points for a sheep hunt permit without getting drawn? :dunno:

You buy an app and then only apply for ghost points. You build points with no chance of drawing that year.

Yes, ghost point is the official answer.

Really, why would you want to? Odds are so low that sitting out a year make not be the best move.

You've got to start building points, but if you can't go on the hunt this year, you sure don't want to take a chance and end up drawing it. Just think of it as a $15 donation to the WDFW, out of the kindness of your heart.

just get the tag, everything else will work itself out.

Agreed. If you drew a sheep tag you will have people coming out of the wood work to offer help and even help scout for you for the chance to go on a sheep hunt.

Post by: shootem on May 03, 2013, 09:34:41 PM: If you don't have time or money to hunt this year go for the ghost point option. The last thing you want is to get the freak draw and not be able to go. Consider putting in for moose and goat because someday you may want it to happen too. You look young in the picture so if it takes 15 or 20 years to get a tag hopefully you will still be strong and healthy when you draw. There are great people on this sight ready to help a good person on a fabulous hunt. coachcw was unbelievable helping me with my hunt in 2011 and others on a hunt in 2009. Go for it!
