Made the weekly Costco trip lastnight and found out that they had some gear that could be used for hunting. I picked up the Seripen UV water purifier with the Nalgene bottle and pre filter for 50$. I also found a solar panel charging kit with battery backup packs for 100$. Checked them both out online and it is a good deal with great reviews. Just a heads up if anyone is in the market.

Was the solar panel gear the Goal Zero stuff? if so which Costco?
-
I saw the charger a couple weeks ago in woodinville and if I recall correctly it was not goal zero stuff. I can't say for sure though.

Yes it was the goal zero. It was in shoreline.

Good luck with that steri pen. I suggest bringing a backup purification source such as tablets. Mine stopped working in the middle of a vs blacking trip. :(
-
Do you know which model Steripen it was?
-
Its been a few years. I think I bought it in 2007. I think I bought it at REI. Took it back, and never considered one again. I personally like the idea of a filter anyway.

They have a pretty swinging deal on Mountain House as well. 10 pack boxes. Pretty spotty when they stock them.
They also have THE BEST deal on Merino wool boot socks.

I was at the South Everett Costco yesterday, and they had the Steripen, the Goal Zero charger, AND crab pots - two collapsible pots with buoy and rope for $80.

Many of the hikers on the Continental Divide Trail this summer are moving away from Goal Zero and buying this Suntactics charger: http://www.suntactics.com/shop/usb-scharger-5/ (http://www.suntactics.com/shop/usb-scharger-5/)

you look like the dude on the cover of the new hunting regs.

Hope they carry the game cameras again this year.

Good to know. Thanks!
I don't know if steak counts as outdoor gear :chuckle:, but they have the best damn beef. A couple rib steaks are always a nice addition to car camping.

Whuppinstick. I like what i see, however one of the things i do like about he goal zero is the ability to charge AA and using them as your battery. To me its more diverse. Do you know of any similar add on to add that feature to that charging system?

I don't, no. All of the hikers have adopted accessories that they can plug directly into the charger. I think they make headlamps now that have a USB connection. As for anything that requires AA everybody just uses lithium-ion batteries. They're expensive, but light and they last forever.

That guy is way more attractive than me. ;)
