Anyways just wanted to post a reminder to be safe out there especially when alone. I HATE tweakers.

Well today was interesting. Set out this morning around 9 to do some bear hunting. Got to the gate and noticed it was not pinned in. The lock was still locked. I opened the gate and closed it behind me locking it up. I got up to where I wanted to hunt and parked the Jeep. As I got out and was looking around a vehicle drove up and thought to myself another spring bear permit holder. That changed pretty quick and in the vehicle were two guys and a girl in the back. As they pulled up they said (insert Bevis laugh) "You up here shooting too"? I told them no and and asked what they were doing up there and asked if they came up to shoot (I wanted to know if they were armed). They said yes. I said they wern't supposed to be out here and the driver started to argue with me. The passenger dude looked fried and when he talked I couldn't understand him and I got instantly on guard with him. I was watching the drivers hands and girl in the back at first. I made sure they knew I was well armed (.45 on the hip) and said they should probably go before they got caught trying to sound at least friendly. I was by myself so didn't need any trouble. Well after a few words (nothing serious) they turned around and left. I decided to call the WDFW Sergent on the contact sheet given to us but no answer. So I called the DNR office and told them about it. I gave them the make, model, color and license number just in case something went wrong. He said they might send and officer out. I decided to just hunt near where my Jeep was parked cuz I didn't trust them one bit. I could hear them shooting for a few hours but when I left I didnt see them and the gate was open again, lock still locked. So I looked more closely at the lock box and noticed you don't even need keys to open them up if you know how they work. At least this one.You did exactly what you should have. Good job! :tup: Glad nothing bad went down. I'm sure half of them were in Illegal possession of firearms even.

Wow...You or somebody needs to contact the folks who manage that land and let them know all the specifics location etc.. of the defective locking mechanism..That could have been a real mess, plus it's always a 'BONUS' when you get a coveted tag and some knuckleheads decide to break laws and have a shooting session within a ear shot of where your hunting.

I should have called in sick today and went with you buddy. Sorry, glad it all worked out.
It was awesome up there today. Wish you could have gone out. Didn't see anything but a coyote pup driving out.

about a year and a half ago I ran into some fudge packers. I'm guessing they were married dudes who were escaping to the woods to *ahem* get away from it all...

I agree I think I would have just called it in. You just never know how things can escalate with freaks. Glad you are ok.

I wouldn't have confronted them. I'd have just called it in. This could've gone really bad, really fast. I'm glad it didn't, Timber. :tup: We've lost enough members on this site for the week.
I agree. Unfortunately I was parked at a dead end and they pulled in as I was getting ready to hike out. No avoiding it. Definately glad it worked out.
I did call it in as soon as they left. With all info needed. Glad I was on a hill top with cell service.

They might be out poaching wild game to eat because they have no other money to buy food. I was out in Valley riding my enduro and meet 2 tweeker women out looking for moose. They seamed out of place and got their license number in case a moose was found in that area poached. Never can tell what is in a tweeker's mind.You know you're tweakin when you find yourself in the woods lookin for a moose... That whole image of the interaction is just unbelievable..LOL.. "What are you two babes missin all your teeth doing way out here...ah nuttin just lookin for a moose, have ya seen one? hahahahaaa..No but there is some antlers in that tree top but i don't know how goosed the moose.. Oh lordy i need some sleep :chuckle: :chuckle:
