Been thinking about this for a few days now. I would like to chase a Peaches Ridge bull in memory of Aaron. Although I cannot offically be a paid Guide. I will offer up my HELP for a permit holder. This will be a trip of a lifetime for a big bull in washington. My legs, back, honey holes, tent, guns whatever the hunter may need will be free of charge!!
I know Aaron would love to have chased a big bull, so hopefully a permit holder will take me up on this offer and Aaron will be with us for sure.
Not really sure what else to do, I just feel the need to go elk hunting as he would want all of us to do!!

Wish I was putting in for that tag.
-
 ill be putting in.
-
I have had that on my mind. I put in for the clockum and peaches every year and have been thinking if i draw i will dedicate my bull to Aaron.
-
I hope someday his kids are able to hunt here with their uncle. It would be so cool for his son to put a trophy elk down in the Colockum for his dad.
-
My thoughts exactly, let go hunt down a big bull for Colockumelk! I will be putting in for the Peaches Tag, but I will also put in for 1 of the 140 cow tags in Colockum as well and hope to pay tribute in a small way. I always read his post and commented at times, but enjoyed his contribution to the thing called a forum, where a band of brothers can come and speak their minds and help out one another!
-
-
If I draw I will let you know that would be a great tribute to him.
-
This is a great tribute. I hope Karl draws a bull tag this year.
-
He has come home.
-
If I should be so fortunate to draw either of the Peaches modern bull tags, and 1) RT has not made another commitment for the tag time frame, and 2) he and I work out the details right after the draw results, I will then immediately papal Bone with a $500 donation to the Joshua Fund.
Now, I ask that any of you who take up RT on this offer, please consider to meet or exceed my donation offer! :)
-
I haven't been putting in for that tag, but I must say Rt... your consistent generosity and obvious desire to help others sure makes me want to change my game plan to take you up on such an offer. My hat is off to you.
-
-
I put in for Western Washington tags but this year I will put for Peaches Ridge, if I were so lucky to draw I will take up the generous offer from RT and will match the donation from 6x6in6.
wether a bull is taken or not, the hunt will be dedicated to Aaron.
-
I'll put in as well for Peaches..... I won't draw but at least I try!
-
Heck ya, cant wait for the draw! Lets do this big time for Colockumelk!
-
If I draw I will take you up on you offer fo sure.
-
:yeah:
If I draw I will take you up on you offer fo sure.

I just talked with Aaron a few weeks back, I'm in total shock! My God I don't know what to say. I'll let everyone know on the ElkNut Forum as well. What a freaking shame!!!!! This really bums me out for him & the ones he's left behind. Thanks for letting us know.
Aaron, rest in peace sir & thank you for your service, you have given the ultimate sacrifice my friend.

For The First Time I'll Be Putting In For A Colockum Tag.
-
Like most others on H-W, I only knew Aaron through his posts and a couple of PM's, but I'm still heart broken over his loss. Even though Aaron and I are the same age, had some common friends and went to Central, I never had the pleasure to meet him face to face. My little brother knew Aaron well and graduated with him from Central's Army ROTC program in 2009.
Pulling a tag for Peaches would be a great way to honor a true American hero. So here is my dilemma: I already specified my tag for the Westside and took a points option for the draw. Will WDFW let me change it to an Eastside tag and put in for Peaches Ridge since the drawing hasn't taken place yet? I have 16 points, so I am thinking that I might have a decent shot at pulling a Peaches permit.
Does anybody know if WDFW will let me "start over", so I can try to pull a Peaches permit?
-
Explain the situation, all you can do is try! Good luck
-
I think they will, but you will have to mail your westside tag to the licensing office and they should switch it for you.
-
And I already put in for Naches and Peaches.....so Im in...
-
I will try calling them this weekend. I have a couple of meetings in Olympia next week, so I will just stop by and turn it in if its that easy.
-
me and my 16 elk points will be turned in and if someone draws i would be happy to give up my rifle season to help pack track what ever it takes
-
I cannot charge up the hills and keep up with a pack board but I will cook and camp tender for the trip and provide the rib-sticking vittles for the camp. Cooked professionally for 10 years and love to feed folks. My hope is Karl would find his way to the fire so we can honor the departed and those he touched behind.

Thats what this is all about! We need a tag! Then lets get to planning this hunt!
-
Aint got many points but will be putting in for that tag and if I by some chance get it, if you dont mind an arrow flinger, Id love to dedicate this hunt to Aaron.....
-
I typically run and gun alone while chassing bulls . I often sit and reflect on just hoe assume it is to be able use the land and enjoy a hunt . It's only because of great men Like Aron and his brothers in arms that lay there lives down for the great country we live in . We often complain about the usa and politics , but the reallity is we still live in the best place on earth . my 13 points are down for archery in both peaches and the cloc and no doubt if I pull a tag I will refect with a heavey heart , RT your of is very generous and it would be an honor to share camp with you brother.
-
I normally hunt western wa, but this year i plan to hunt east side archery and peaches ridge will be my 1st choice
-
WTH ...Did not he just leave not to long ago ...Man that hits hard ... :'( God bless him )
-
RT, seriously, this is very generous of you. I hope this all works out for a tag holder.
-
I havnt been on the forum lately can ya give me info on what happened.
-
Colockumelk was killed in action on April 23/24 in Afghanistan. One of our brethren. Go to the virtual campfire forum to read more.
-
I live in the area so I will provide my back and legs to pack out the successful hunters bull.
-
This will be a great way to pay tribute. Shows where the hearts of most Hunt-WA members really are.
-
For the 1st time all my points are thrown in for the east side. Not Peaches, but I will be in the neighborhood during modern if 13 points come thru for a quality tag. I won't raise the odds on Peaches in consideration for those it means the most too. Wherever we hunt, I believe all of us will spend time thinking of Aaron and others that have paid the ultimate price for the privileges we are living. I'll most likely be hunting alone :camp: this year, while my son is working on the other side of the world.
-
I sure hope we can make this happen! Like I said before, I have the tent snd all the stuff to make camp. Be something real special if we get not only tag holders but people who just want to join on the hunt.
I will be inviting both of Aarons brothers also. Can't wait for the draw results!
PS I have a special bull picked out if he made it through the winter! He has been in my sights the last two years, but of course no tag in my pocket!

Hey RT, what GMU are you planning to be in for that tag (346)? If I don't get drawn for the archery Peaches tag, or the archery Colockum cow tag, I'd be honored to join your camp for a few days as I will be on my own! But we'll just have to wait to see what happens in June......
-
346 is where I hunt...
-
Of course I should've figured that.....
-
My 15 points are in the peaches pool...
-
Good luck Chris!!!
-
I'm in for archery ! the new bowtech wants to eat !
-
Coach, that would be awesome!!!
-
Naches, have faith brother! 5 has done it before!
-
my first choice was Arons favorite area , then peaches !
-
I don't know that area, But if you need help! I will pack a bull through hell and fire to get the job done!!!
-
We should know in a month or so who the lucky guys are. I know everybody can't win but i hope a lot of HuntWA members get lucky in the draws.
-
Peaches might end up being the hardest tag to draw this year with everyone putting in that wouldnt normally put in for that unit. :twocents:
-
Thats the game we all play with putting in for tags! Its all luck no matter what your point totals are.
-
Hey RT I will be up scouting again around the Little Naches this year and putting up my game cameras for the heck of it. I will keep you informed of what I find. I will be applying but will not get drawn since I got one last year. Would love to help out with your hunt in some way if possible.
-
It could be hot sept third , we may need a army to pack one out !
-
Greenhorn, i hiked into my camp on friday from the main road! Snow was to deep to drive!! Awesome! Did not see another soul. We will have to plan a scouting trip. I have never got into trail cams, but i will be putting some out this year! We are going to need all the help we can get!!!

Wow, that is a heck of a hike RT. I was wondering what the conditions were like up there.
-

This is a great thread. I did put in for Clock for my first choice. I hope with 20 points there is a chance...

Did a workout this morning called " Murph". It is a Crossfit workout named for a KIA hero, Michael Murphy. It was said to be his favorite workout. 1mile run, 100 pull ups, 200 pushups, 300 air squats, another 1 mile run. Crossfit is used by many Military, police and firefighters. It kicks your ass, but it is a small sacrifice we make every memorial day to pay tribute to fallen soldiers. Any ways, this year we were asked to pick a soldier KIA to represent. I hadn't read the thread about Colockumelk, I just stumbled on it today. Next year, I will proudly and humbly represent him in the Murph workout next Memorial day. Thanks to all the Military members and their families, God Bless you and thank you for your service and sacrifice.

My family has been hunting unit 346 for over 20 yrs, and usually see big bulls every year. Both my brother and I have 600 feet each of nylon rope on Reelcraft hose reels, 12,500 pound winches mounted on carriers with quick connects forward and rear on our 4X4s, and use snatch blocks that we mount to trees by chain and shackles on the highside of the logging spur roads which allows us to load the elk whole (although I have never had to quarter one we do know how and bring our packboards just in case). We have over a 50% success rate for spikes. We put in as a group for modern any bulls and have 10 pts each for this years draw. I just received Jason Phelp's wonderful elk call in honor of Aaron. I have my fingers crossed for the draw and hopefully will be able to post pictures of 3 good bulls (brother, nephew, and I) with "Aaron's" call in the picture. Even though I'm 62 yrs old and my brother 64 yrs old, we still get up the hills and into the elks bedding and cover areas, and do call in some pretty nice bulls every year ... just need the tags ! Fingers are crossed ....

I sure hope you can help get someone a Dandy.. He gave me some info to help me out.

You dont by chance drive a big Ford do you? I seen this setup on a rig last year up there... Cool idea
-
I drive a Royal Red with Gold trim 2009 F-350 Superduty Lariat Kings Ranch (1 ton). If you see me flag me down and introduce yourself. Brother drives a 3/4 ton Chevy Silverado greyish in color. Or stop by camp ... we camp just back from the end of Rock Creek Road ... 25 ft Springdale Trailer, 20 ft x 10 ft garage for eating tent ... kind of hidden back in the trees so a little hard to find.
Last year we just dragged my brother's elk about 100 feet down the hill and slid it on 6 mil black plastic into the back of his truck. Didn't even use the rope and winches to load it whole. Once back at camp we yarded it up on the meat pole using a winch as we skinned, cleaned, sawed it in half (using a battery operated reciprocating saw), and then bagged it using our "half" elk bags (two quarter bags sewed together for each half). We took it down to Naches the next day for processing. It was ready for pickup before the trip was over.
