Getting expensive these days!! Come on Peaches Ridge tag!!
-
Tell me about it, I buy my dads for him and it was 96.00 just for 5 elk apps, 4 moose and 1 deer. I buy a lot more than that for myself, can't wait to get mine my wife's and my daughters. Break out the visa!!
-
Those "Quality" permits add $$ in a hurry. >:(
-
Yeah, deer, elk, bear cougar combo, multi deer and special hunt permits, I'm around $315!
-
Why do you guys keep putting in for that stuff?!!!!
-
Yes, everyone quit putting in for all special permits. :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:
-
I am telling ya ...its getting to be a joke ...I still have to buy my kids their tags and licenses yet ...it cost me $ 160 just for what I got not counting permits yet ..So yeah it will cost us around $700 by the time I get it all ...but they want to keep harassing me and wanting more :dunno: :bash: :o just lucky we love to hunt as much as we do or they could .....my ......! Thats the whole thing too ...they know how much we all love to hunt and know no matter what it cost we will pay :dunno: guess we are the idiots :yeah:
-
If I didn't already have a bunch of money invested in points I wouldn't even be buying a license here.
Hunting is an expensive sport and license fees are fairly minimal in the long run, but all they do is take take take, and keep expecting more. Last year I told myself I wasn't going to support them anymore but I can't get myself to do it with the points I've got built up.

I purchased more this year then I ever have. In the past I only purchase deer/elk combo and all the special permit hunts. This year I added in moose, goat, sheep, etc. I spent close to $400 for myself and my kid, which included a Discover Pass. I got drawn for a multi season deer tag. I have not decided if I am going to purchase it yet, but that will be another $190.

I submitted all my permit apps a few minutes ago so I feel better now. At least until I get (11) "Not Selected's".
-
I'm in for $267, just me. Freshwater fishing salmon steelhead endorsement deer elk bear cougar turkey tag small game Discover Pass and seven special permit apps. I did $311 a couple of years ago, but I dropped the permits I have no reasonable chance to draw in a lifetime (moose, sheep, goat; I've killed them out of state already).
-

I know huh...I got the multi season deer, which I didn't really want it in the first place. I wanted the elk, but got the great "Not Selected" news. Boo!

Could be worse... like the 12 "not selecteds" that I will get lol
-
Im not buying the multi season deer... I just got the app so I could feel what its like to see " SELECTED " just once before I die !!! lol
-
Put in last week lol :) every category besides antlerless and second deer hunt...
-
I haven't bought mine yet. Waiting for payday. Its like knowing that you have to get kicked in the junk, but stepping up and doing it anyway. I think I will let them kick me in the junk on....lets see...Wednesday. Man, Wednesday is gonna suck.... :o
-
i am in too it for 370.00 with all tags. Now i have to save for Gas,food, ammo, clothing, butchers fee, and a vacation for the wife before i go hunting WOW
-
Yes between fishing and hunting I'm going bust! :yike:
-
I think all my stuff we be about $500
-
You guys are nuts!!
-
Now that I got everything purchased, I am going to focus on a new spotting scope, binocs, GPS, and pack. Any recomendations on a good elk pack? I tend to purchased good, best, or better.
-

I'm right there with ya. Haven't bought my fishing license yet. Will have to donate a bit more I guess.
-
On top of that soon all of us west siders will be paying for timber company access permits or fighting over the minimal public ground and wishing we could get to the public lands the timber companies have land locked. :bash:
-
Spent $482.20 for all the permit appls & Deer/Elk Multi tags. Thats not counting Deer,Elk,Bear,Cougar combo along w/ 2 Turkey tags I already bought.
-
me too $214.30 not counting all my fishing/shell fishing stuff. brutal this time of year isn't it.
-
Yes, everyone quit putting in for all special permits. :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:
:yeah:
-
Imagine how much it would be if the money had to be fronted for the permits. :chuckle:
-
come on guys the money is well spent our state needs to buy more wolf bait ! :chuckle:
-
I think they should provide a complimentary bottle of lube haha
-
you guys it is much cheaper to hunt out of state!!
-
This year I am $355.00 poorer after purchasing all my tags and permits. I thought it was cheaper to hunt out of state until I started adding up the travel costs, food costs, lodging costs (depending on the type of hunt), out of state fees and cost of a guide. For me it was cheaper to stay at home; however, I would like to hunt Northern Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming. I have a friend who goes to Montana every year for archery elk and has decent luck.
-
Montana sure isn't cheaper since they basically doubled their prices last year. I went in 2009 and 2010 and had a great time, but they priced me right out of the market. Since I am now teaching high school I can't take a week off in November anymore, so a 4 day hunt just isn't worth the cost. :dunno: I drew a decent Hunter Education Instructor Incentive tag this year, so I'll stay home. That being said; I did spent waaay to much $$ last Wednesday for PathfinderJR and myself when we bought all our licenses, tags and permit applications. :o
-
Pathfinder it just sucks we have to put out so much money to hunt and have that Father sun time together but in the end it will come back many times over with the memorys anyway that's what I try to explain to my wife don't know if it works but were still hunting.
-

Yup. Also, every time I read an Eastman's article about some son who is a doctor or a lawyer and paid for the "trip of a lifetime" to pay dad back for all the times "he took me hunting when I was a kid", that gives me a little extra incentive to fork out the cash for his tags. Now I just have to get the kid into law school.... ;)
-
If it wasn't for points I'd be done hunting and just raising beef cattle. *censored* I'd let you come out and kill whatever beef cow you wanted for the price of the damn special permits and licenses.... lol
-
I went BARELY shy of $900 for myself and 3 kids..... And that's without putting a couple of them in for everything they could apply for.
OUCH is right!!!!!
-

:yeah: X2
-
I cut way back... 138 for all my stuff, and 75 for my sons.
-
I purchased my stuff in waves to minimize the extreme pain. >:(
-
$170 and I cut way back even after I cut out oil last year..... Not including if I'm going fishing or not.... At least the kids don't need fishing licenses yet....
-
Imagine how much it would be if the money had to be fronted for the permits. :chuckle:
At the risk of having several of you looking for a rope!!
I'm all in favor of up front for tags!! Eliminate the points. To any of you who draw your going to have to come up with the funds so whats the difference if they have it now or latter. They would refund everything but the cost of the permit draw fees.
Would make everyone review what they want to hunt instead of just blanket apps.
But then I also have played that way when you had to upfront all the Moose,Goat and sheep tags. :hello:

No ropes from me, I remember when you had to front the money for OIL tags and my odds were MUCH better then.
-
I am out $500 this year for just my tags and permits. My wife was another $170 and she hardly hunts at all right now....Whe only hunts if she draws a doe or second deer tag, otherwise I am just building points :yike: I KNOW, I KNOW.....I am crazy, but one of these days when she has more time I want her to experienced a nice bull elk or Rutting Mulie hunt.

Like I have heard!! "You pay your money and you take your chances!!!"
Just like playing the Lotto it only takes one ticket to win! Or so I have been told.
-
This state is turning into an absolute joke with all this nonsense. Sure do miss the good ol' days. >:(

Sit back and watch! Wait until they throw the coveted Wolf tag into the mix. You will have people working street corners to come up with the money for it!! :chuckle:
Sorry I didn't mean to push this off the topic. I'm still struggling with giving them any money this year.
Figure I will be ahead floating.
-
Getting expensive these days!! Come on Peaches Ridge tag!!
I think my youngest son is in for a shock, when he's no longer a poor, broke college student and has to buy his own permits! Ouch!
-

that's my plan next year a little hear and there doesn't sting so bad.
-
:beatdeadhorse:
-
I just put in for the big 3 for myself (28 years and still no tag). I went whole hog for my 13 year old daughter. She put in for everything but antler less deer. She refuses to shoot a doe. I'm hoping that she can pull the Mudflow or Skookumchuck youth tag with 3 points. Everything else is really unlikely. The price of permit apps has gotten waaaaaaaaay out of hand for the odds.
-
I think they should provide a complimentary bottle of lube haha
:chuckle: and some free stiches :yike: about 500 for my son and I
-
I didnt know until it was too late. But my father didnt purchase a app or even his hunting license this year.
He said after all the cost of fishing and boat license he couldnt afford it. Retired and limited income.
Next year Ill buy them for him. after all he paid for me growing up. (wish he would of said something)
I wish there was some discount for older people in this state. I mean how much of a threat are they anyway. Dad cant walk more then a few hundred yards from his truck for fear of his back going out. Or gout in his legs. apps aint bad but the total cost is nuts for people like him. So much for growing the sport when the grandkids cant enjoy poppa in camp. or spend time on a stand with the ole grey bearded wealth of knowledge.
-
You still have all day today to purchase licenses and applications, and get them submitted. Only takes a few minutes to do it online.
-
Got him taken care of. I was thinking the 20th for the deadline. Saved the day.
-
I threw $250 down the tube yesterday
-
I threw $250 down the tube yesterday
I'm in for just shy of $500.00 for my son and I and we still need to buy federal duck stamps later in the year.
As far as the oil tags paying up front, I do miss that. It probably kept a ton of people out of the system.
-
$83 in permit apps, 7of 8 just pts options.
-
OUCH IS RIGHT, i bought my daughter and son their stuff and my daughter is a youth and it costed me 291.00 dollars. i didnt bother buying my stuff, i figure if my kids draw tags or tag out early i can still go buy my deer tag and go hunt.... this will be the first year since i was 12 that i havent bought a tag :'( :'( :'( .... its alright though, this will be my daughters first year and my boy is old enough and equiped enough to hunt on his own :yike: also i am taking another youth hunter out this year for his first crack at the huntn game, his parents are straight city folk so it will be quite the expierience for this young man.

This is just for me, and I have a little more to get later.
-
It sucks that I have to buy my sons license and tag every year so he can collect points even though he will not be hunting elk. We are saving for when he gets out of college. We should both have about 10 points by then so we will probably end up hunting the east side for a few years until we get drawn.
-
For my son, daughter and I, it was $562.10! Thank God my daughter is a youth, or it would have cost me $700.
-
Good thing us hunters support the wildlife so bunny huggers have some bunnies to look at!!! :chuckle:
