Anyone know when the salmon fly hatch happens on the Deschutes?
-
It is weather, location, and river flow dependent but May 15th is a good bet to starting looking for them

Thanks everyone! So we did take off and caught a couple fish. didn't get there till 230 but enjoyed the rest the day on the river. Smokey caught a redside about 17 inched just at dusk.
We decided there"s great fishing closer to home too and will wait till the 10th or so to go back. That's when the fly shop said the salmon hatch will start. Hate those big ugly bugs crawling all over me...what I won't do for good fishing! LOL
