Title: Burrowing owls

Post by: baldopepper on May 03, 2013, 11:35:52 AM: If you are near the burrow they're using (usually an old badger dig) go over to it and kind of dig around a bit in a month or so-they protect their chicks by making a sound that duplicates a nest of rattle snakes When I was a kid, we used to go dig them and and keep them as pets for a bit then turn them loose. Just make sure it's the actual burrow they're using and not really a snake nest. :chuckle: Nice pic's-they are a pretty cool little bird.

You dug up burrowing owl nests and kept chicks as pets? :o
