You might try to handle trout a bit differently than a large mouth bass. ;)

well I dont usualy fresh water fish lol

it was odd casting out with the bobber on and i got use to it and i got it out there and I set the rod down and I turned to look at my son and looked and and the bobber was gone i was like chit! so i set the hook and didnt know if I should pull on the line or reel in so I though about it for like 2 seconds and just pulled on the line and landed it. It was cool to finaly catch a fish on my fly rod.

Thanks everyone who gave me advice and anymore would be great.

I can't tell from the picture, but is that a slip bobber on your tippet?

Your bobber is way to big. Your not really flycasting with a setup like that. Just pin a small corkie. Nice going though!

Lots of good how-to videos on youtube re: fishing with an indicator. It's not really like bobber and worm fishing. Use a small corkie or any one of the umpteen different strike indicators you can buy. I like the thingamabobbers.

I agree the one you're using there is enormous and probably why you were having issues casting.
Congrats on the fish.
