Anyone been catching em? Been slow here, 1 native today. What would be a good lure or bait choice for fast ,cold, clear water.

Sounds good. I have tried multiple sizes of kwiks and flatfish but just the same results. Usually we hammer down. They are alapping it and not taking it. Kind of frustrating.

What you use depends on where you are fishing. On the Snake it is dirty and they have been hitting a few cut herring. Down at Drano we have done well with Brads magnum wigglers or flashers and cut plug Brads baits with tuna or sardines.

water is way warmer this time than the last 2 years..the Salmon river in riggins is at 53 which it barely hit that in June last year..its 8 deg warmer at Bonny than this time last year

Honestly that just means that the fishing should b better than the last 2 years. Have u tried fishing for springers in cold water? It's tough to get em to take the bait. Water temp here is 44. 6 degrees colder than last year.

Drano id 51-52 degrees. Lots of herring behing fish flashes being dragged around. I got one on a 3.5 maglip with no flasher last week, going to hit it again day after tomorrow.

Target number is 335 between Ice harbor and Goose they have 125 on the lawn so far!!

Different waters different rigging. Seems every river I fish takes some variation of it's own for best results. Plus I can never tell what "fast" water is as everyone views that different. To me fast water would be the Vedder under the kayak slalom :dunno:
The one constant I find with springers is, "When in doubt go sweet" I add sugar or honey to dang near everything/everywhere when fishing springers. Exact opposite to what I do fishing fall fish.
