I posted a crappy pic in the big blacktail thread but I said when I got around to it I would get some better pics. When my grandfather downsizes houses he is giving it to me and Charlie will be re-doing the mount. 171 4/8 net.

I was talking about this buck just the other day .... what a buck!! I cant wait to bring that badboy back to life!!! Thanks for posting BLRman!!!!

That thing is awesome. Can't wait to see it after bucklucky does his thing  Did he shoot him in washington?
-
Awesome buck! Do they still make em like that? :chuckle:
-
yes it was shot in washington around 1925. Eatonville area to be exact. It was my great uncle Jack who shot the buck and it sat in the shed for a decade or so and not sure when the mount was done. My grandpa seems to think that one of my uncles may have mounted it in the early 60's when they were tinkering with taxidermy. I wish I knew more details on this dude but those old boys didn't pay much attention to the antlers back in those days.

sweet jesus, that is a hog for sure, i hope you have a cape big enough to do that hog justice!!!! is that the natural color of those antlers or are they stained? i love the dark antlers on blacktails

Wow, wow, wow...

Heck of a buck Karl.
My brother told me that they got your ink backwards?? I laughed pretty hard at that story!!
Hopefully you tag out early and can make it down for the bachelor party? It should be a blast, there's gonna be a lot of fishing and drinkin.

I can't even imagine seeing a blacktail that size, let alone having it in my crosshairs. Amazing

That there is why we do what we do!!
-
wow...you said it right the first time, monster :yike:

That's awesome!! I saw one up on the last blacktop road that goes to the left before you get to Alder Lake (don't know the road name). It was elk season and I saw the head and antlers of what at first I thought was an elk. It turned and ran off, but a guy and his girlfriend were watching it. I asked why they didn't shoot, it looked to be a legal elk. They said it was a deer!!!! I was surprised!! It was tall and wide like the one in the picture. I think there are still some great genetics up there on that hill!

:yeah: What is the world record score? I didn't think the record was that big, what an animal. Just answered my own question, the world record columbia blacktail is 182, yours is really close. very impressive!

it used to be #5 but I think its been bumped out of the top 10 by now.

What an awesome deer!
The taxidermy isn't nearly as bad as the one my mom has hanging in her house though. In the 60s my dad had the first mule deer he killed (he had just immigrated from Europe) mounted by an amatuer taxi. It's an absolute train wreck. I have offered to remount it, but mom won't let me touch it. It is the running joke among the guys that have stayed at mom's house when we go up north to hunt. Looks like an antlered coyote chewing on apples... :chuckle:
