Alright here is the story.....
Last night I am cooking up the last of my fresh oysters. I have about ten of these babies left. I decide to pan fry them so I break out the oyster knife and get them shucked. I don't know about you but 10 just isn't going to be enough for me and the wife. I open the freezer and waited for something to jump out all ready to eat but that didn't happen. After passing on all the frozen chicken breast wishing there was an elk steak to be found I come across some boneless buffalo wings. That will do in a pinch. So I am eating my 5 perfectly fried oysters then I start in on a few hot wings. Then a thought comes to me and my world grinds to a complete stop, All I can think about is a hot wing style fried oyster. OMGosh!!!! sounds so good to me. I looked up a recipe and will let you all know how it turns out. Has anyone on here ever tried one? If so are they great?

Haven't tried one, can't imagine that it will improve on the classic pan fry, some things are better left alone. Shoot it raw, BBQ the way we discussed yesterday or classic pan fry I say. :twocents:
Good luck, are you planning to put BBQ sauce on them then deep fry?
Apparently some of us are going to have to get together for a oyster shoot out!

The recipe calls for frying them- then hitting them with the sauce. I was thinking of trying to fry them with the sauce. I agree they are so good with just flour, salt, and pepper. They probably wont be as near as good as regular but I have to try them. :dunno:

As long as you don't smother them they would probably be good, I use tapitio on mine and they taste awesome, a little BBQ sauce maybe...
Interested to hear how it goes..

All right the rest of the story..... I had an extra pint of shucked medium oysters today so tried the "hot wing" style oyster. Just as I am getting the last one breaded I think to myself. You should have done 1\2 the regular way- flour , salt, pepper, and fry them up. Well to late for that on to the frying. They come out and I put a slight sauce on them and give them a try. What a let down :bash:. They were ok but not the mind blowing goodness that I have been thinking about. I will be sticking to the tried and true traditional fried oyster. Here is a pic.

just gril them and eat them, forget batter and deep fry, oysters are not great that way

use panko bread crumbs nice and crispy with a fresh tasting tender oyster inside. just flour is kinda lack luster and can be kinda gummy unless cooked to long to get flour crisp leading to an over cooked oyster IMO. Try tiger sauce for dipping your oysters fried, half shell on the bbq or raw sliders you will not be disappointed. That's "Tiger Sauce" try it.

I like a mixture of half flour and half panko and whatever seasoning you like (Johnny's and cayenne for me). Dredge them in that and then put them on a wire bakers rack for 10-15 minutes and then dredge them again and fry. You can use this method with anything. Great crispy texture on the outside. Pop 3-4 of those bad boys on a nice fresh roll with mayo, lettuce, tomatoe and red onion and that is one heck of a tasty sandwich.

Definitely sounds good but maybe its not the right combo.

My wife dips them in floor egg and then panko, and fries them. we dip them in a mixture of worcestershire sauceand Japanese mayonnaise. I like to add a bit of Sriracha sauce to it for a little extra flavor.
