The flies were getting out of control in the house, so I took it upon myself to get them out. I connected with the booner after missing two aerial shots, finally I got a lock on him and took him down with a single shot from my nerf slingshot at about 3 yrds. It was a steep quartering toward shot, and Id guess he was going about 8 fps. Good practice for bowhunting pheasants next year. :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

Hard to tell in your photo but I'd put that wingspan at juuuusssttt making book.

great post lucky33
-
sounds like a rewarding hunt. i dont see a limit in the regs so wack & stack.
-
Nice fly but there is no way that thing makes book. Look at the legs in relationship to the wings, Too big. Small legs = book housefly. :bash:
:chuckle:
-
I'm waiting on the cooking tips... :chuckle:

I still have yet to have it officially scored...does this one go in pope and young since a slingshot is closer to a bow? :chuckle: I figured you guys would like this one, September is still so far away and Ive got to keep my aim sharp

I bet KC Kracker has some good smoking tips for this dude. :chuckle:
-
I don't know, this guy I got last year will be tough to beat.

Well flinging foam balls at house flies with a childs toy I think goes into the Obama Biden book. :twocents:

Not even close to being a booner, that thing is a dink, pisscutter, milk on its lips fly......
The common house fly averages 8-12mm in length and the us dime is 17.9mm in diameter and that thing is nowhere near as long as the dime is, stop long arming that thing.
Also if you really want a booner house fly you need to focus on the females as they are slightly larger than the males (making you a doe killer!!!!!) and have a much larger space between their red compound eyes.

Well shut me right down....guess I wont be in the records after all. There was a bigger dude this morning in the house, maybe Ill set up a blind and try and take him :chuckle: :chuckle: I know this one will be pushing Boone and Crockett, and will for sure make SCI books 8)

Is it legal to use bait for flies? :tung:
-
It better be OK or I am poaching and baiting.
Unless you know of a good way to make horses quit pooping. :chuckle:
-
dont forget that fly hunting is leagal with cats. mine have windowed a few in the past & knocked a few down while in flight. might also set up a bait site to up your odds at a trophy.
i dont see any thing in the regs prohibiting the use of bait or cats.
-
Maybe there needs to be a biggest fly contest with rules set out on baiting or not? Inside house or outside? Could be fun for those bowhunters trying to maintain their accuracy and precision in the off season.

Agreed. Hunt Washington Forum Housefly Madness 1. :chuckle: Post em up!!! Three categories, Indoor, outdoor, bait or not, and taken with the aid of hunting cats. Ill even make a trophy :chuckle: Ahh yes, hunting season wont come fast enough.

:lol4: What about a primitive weapon category? I got mine using nothing but ninja like reflexes.

when i broke my leg i had to stay on the couch for 2 weeks straight and then they did surgery but anyways a friend bought me a sweet blowgun with tons of sweet darts, they even had broadheads, well after a 100 shots or so i stuck a fly from about 8 to 10 feet, also the wife was kinda pissed about all the little holes in the wall and of course the few strays that stuck in the wall out of reach.... but hey it was a blast.... congrats on a fine kill....i agree we should have an off the wall kill thread, ya know for mice, turbo spiders, big flys and the monster mole that you blow up wuth the 12 gauge in the front yard
-
as far as the fly thing goes, you need to have the hand to wing category to include ninja stuff & the basic swatter technique. might also add a map category. the wife nailed one that was "huge" just last night using nothing more than my umitilla NF map. she was so proud to show me the splat on the wall & i cringed at the sight on the back of my map. be no measuring of that one.
-
To bad it's a high fenced fly. The wild ones are more fun lol
-
This is good. Fly hunting is one of the most invigorating sporting game created. I laugh all the time watch in the wife chase in em down. :chuckle:
-
what about baited traps? Or does it fall under a diff catagory?
-
I hear the state will de-list them when there are 8 breeding pairs. This will have to include at least 3 maggots per pair.
-
:yeah: but not until they are in three bedrooms of the house.
-
Today I heard about a fly-shotgun you load with salt. He was shooting Carpenter Ants when it broke,so he emailed the manufacturer and they said there was a defect in the first ones, so they're sending him a new one for free! Sounds like fun! He said there was a website, but I can't recall what it is...

I once was sitting with my bow in an outbuilding at my parents ranch. A deer mouse ran across the far side of the room and I staked him to the wall with a rather large 3 blade broadhead. One of my most memorable bow kills

The carpenter ants have been terrible on the east side this year. I cant remember there being so many of them. I might have to take the Nerf slingshot in search of ''Big Louie'' 8)

If I see the guy again today I'll write down the website, and get more particulars. from what he said, you have to "reload" the ammo for it...with salt!
-
Just take a BB gun and make sure to get ALL the BB's out. Pump it 10-15 times, pour a little salt down the barrel and fire away

That sounds like pretty effective medicine...does that fall under the muzzleloader class? :chuckle:

OMG, you guys are cracking me up. This is some of the funniest stuff I have seen in awhile.

And just think...It all started with a dead fly, childs slingshot, and foam projectile. :o (https://hunting-washington.com/smf/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.freesmileys.org%2Fsmileys%2Fsmiley-rpg032.gif&hash=eacf60ce332385d2638114bd222c5d60b67057a4) (http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys.php)

Anyone know what it costs to get one of these taxi'd?

OK, I corralled the guy and he said to just Google "Bug A Salt" and that will take you to the website. He even did it on his Smart Phone, and played the video of a fly getting shot off a plate of jello. You can order them online if that is your wish. Looks like a cool gun, and no shortage of targets. Now Homeland Security will start buying up all the salt.... :chuckle:
-
SCORE ONE FOR THE CAT!! just moments ago the wife & i came in & sat on the couch. our killer main coon cat named scruff came to my feet for a pet & at that moment a monster fly buzzed my head, sounded like a 747 jet. up goes the cat & after an intense aerial battle that encompassed the entire living room scruff landed a nasty rt paw that downed the beast. there was no time for picts, sorry, cause as soon as the giant hit the ground-GULP- & it was gone. wow it happened so fast.

It only makes the record book if you get one with chopsticks.
-
Not fooling me ... That was photoshopped. I suppose the next one you will long-arm . Here at Buck Canyon Lodge we practice the SSS. Once the WDFW gets wind of this sport you will need a housefly tag, blow fly tag, horse fly tag (my favorite) etc. Keep it quite!!

Yes. Plus WDFW cant manage predators so venus fly traps will just destroy the population and you can say goodby to fly hunting!
-
Anybody try fishin for 'em yet? :chuckle:
-
Anybody try fishin for 'em yet? :chuckle:
no but it reminds me of a time when my little brother caught a mouse on his fishn pole and a little piece of velveta cheese, i said dude that aint gonna work and about that time he yanked the mouse from behind the damn couch........ :o who would of thunk it :dunno:
-
DAMN....... Now thats true Redneck ingenuity!!
-
There's a hole new season, I can stalk my dog waiting for him to set the bait, and pepper the little basturds with the "A SALT" rifle :chuckle:
-
I had mine mounted. Just got it back from the taxi.
-
I had mine mounted with habitat. :chuckle:
-
nice mounts!
-
How long did it take Charlie to work that habitat out? :chuckle:
-
hahahaha that made me laugh
-

-
Just ordered my Bugasalt gun. The flies days are numbered, now! :chuckle:
-
Hee hee! I just took down a HUGE housefly with my Bugasalt gun. Took 5 shots to kill that bastich! :chuckle:
-
I need one of those...a must have for proper fly control. I love how the jello reacts in the demo vid on the website.
-
The nice part about it is that it doesn't damage anything but the fly. I shot a big fly off the blinds on my picture window, and only got the fly. I told one of the managers at a local restaraunt about them yesterday, and he went right into the office and got on the Bug-A-Salt website. It's been cool and rainy the past few days, and not many flies out---yet! :chuckle:
-
Im thinkin of trying to take a Pope and Young mouse. Should I set up some bait and wait with maybe say a red light and hunt at nite? Or bait them with cheese? Aim small miss small :chuckle: My wife isnt happy with all the fly smears from rubber band hunts, I need to take this to the out doors for bigger game
-
I need a Bug A Fly Gun!!! :chuckle: This is awesome!!
-
$35!! :o Gotta pay to play.. Guess I'll stick with my $1 store swatter... :(
-
those old school swatters are wear its at. like the trad bow hunters. no need to get those new gadgets. cats are cool if you can afford to run them. but get one of the old yellow swatters with the hole in for the ultimate experience.
used to love to watch the wife when we were young chase around the trailer armed with nothing but a swatter. better than a pole dance & more productive. same results. god I miss those old days.
-
I shot an ant today zeroing my air rifles. Apparently they have a nest in the hay bales and don't like the jaring. they were crawling on the target and after I zeroed I tried to hit them. tough as they rarely stay still but i was able to get one with a .22 cal.
-
I use to shoot the flying ants with my red rider. Didnt hit many of them but it was fun.
-

I've been wreaking havoc on the fly population around here with my Bugasalt Gun. However, I have a lot of Zombie Flies. I have to Double Tap them to kill them! :chuckle:

Waste of fish and wildlife — Penalty.
(1) A person is guilty of waste of fish and wildlife if:
(a) The person kills, takes, or possesses fish, shellfish, or wildlife having a value of two hundred fifty dollars or more or wildlife classified as big game; and
(b) The person recklessly allows such fish, shellfish, or wildlife to be wasted.

Keep your bag limit of flies under $250?
Dunno :)

Houseflies are not a game species, nor are they on the "Endangered" or "Protected" lists. They evidently fall under the "Unclassified Wildlife" category, and like Starlings and House Sparrows, you can kill all you want, any time you want... :chuckle:
-
:yeah:
