How much do you use it, specifically for fish?
-
i have one bought it at sportco but i think they are the same. anyways it kicks butt over the foodsavers been using it for about five years and works great. when it wears out though i will bite the bullet on a chamber sealer though

I just bought a commercial grade chamber sealer and it rocks, a Vacmaster 215C. One nice thing is the bags are dirt cheap compared to the Foodsaver type bags. Took it out to Neah Bay with me and it seals fish as tight as you can get. A little bit more pricey but I figure the savings in bags will eventually pay off.

I've had my Cabela's commercial sealer for a couple years and have done an elk and a bunch of fish and veggies an who knows what else
with it, works fine. Has a hiccup once in awhile but nothing serious.

I have one and it has been great. I have not had any problems with it to date.

If you use it as much as it sounds like, I'd spend the extra money on a chamber sealer. Like someone else said bags are dirt cheap, they work better and will probably last a lifetime. If you do much canning, do some research on retort bags and canning, that might seal the deal on a chamber sealer for you.
I had the commercial sealer for years, back when cabelas had their awesome return policy I would just return them when they went tit's up, but after the third one started acting up I realized it was time to step it up to a better sealer. I do a lot of offshore fishing for salmon, bottom fish, halibut and tuna, as well as use it for wild game processing so it gets used a lot. The commercial sealers cabelas sells are far better than a food saver but are by no means a true commercial grade sealer, the heat strip heats up and you have to let it cool down where my chamber sealer can just go and go for an hour without stopping.

I bought the ARY vacmaster 112 chamber sealer several years ago and I would NEVER own another food sucker type sealer. Go with a chamber sealer, the cost is worth it IMO, When I bought mine it was around $799.00, looks like the price is quite a bit lower now !!

:yeah:
Sirmissalot. I would agree.
I have one and use it sporadically, but If I was sealing as much as you it would never be good enough, ditto the heatstrip.

I have had the cabela's one for about 4 years or so and would consider them over priced for how reliable they are. I use mine year round for Deer, fish, birds, etc.

Thanks for the information. I have been through 4 foodsavers now and the new models are junk. Was hoping the Cabelas commercial grade was better than the reviews said. Sounds like for a little more I can get the chamber sealer. Thanks for the link Robo. How did you do on the halibut? Was somewhat slow for us. Fish were small too. Pretty disappointing year.
So how easy are the bags to locate for the chamber sealers?
Thanks again for all the info. I hate buying garbage over and over again.
The fish I have caught are small too but no shortage of them, think Im up to 13 halibut so far including Canada to the boat so not too bad in that regard !
When I bought my sealer I just ordered a couple sizes of bags with it and I'm still using them, they come like 1000 to a box and only like $50 for 1000 10x13 3mil bags, I also got some smaller ones for like $35 for 1000 6x8 3mil bags and 1000 8x11 3mil zip-loc bags for a little more like $65 or something and like I said I still have lots left and they are great in the freezer as they can handle being banges around a little more then the foodsaver type !!
