Question for those that are in the know I am looking for the most fur UN Friendly bullet for 22-250 and 243. I mean I want something that is going to almost explode and leave a coffee can size hole on exit or at least the largest possible exit hole for the 2 calibers mentioned. Granted for a bigger hole use a larger caliber but gonna start with the small stuff and work my way up through 06
Say hit em between the eyes and take the whole back of the head off

Anyone shoot the Barnes Varmit Grenade and have experience with results on critters? Maybe TOO frangible for Jingles desired outcome?
-
Try a Nosler Ballistic tip? :dunno:
-
Your sick and twisted Jingles. :chuckle:

I save fur so I can tell you what hasn't worked for me.
6mm 62gr VG at 3600fps left a softball+ exit on a double lunger, 55gr Nosler Lead Free hasn't exited.
6mm 65gr V-Max big holes, 58gr V-Max no exit on our bigger dogs up here, brutal on little southern coyotes
Haven't had any problems with the .224 but don't shoot anything over 50gr other than the Speer 52gr flying ashtray.
Bigger V-Max in the .224 moving fast might be spectacular.
I don't understand throwing away $50 bills by blowing up coyotes.

If I was able to get more per animal I'd consider saving the hides but fur buyer only Paid $15.00 all winter and if I'm only gonna get that for a good pelt I'll just let the da*ned things lay in the field.
And Yes I am sick and twisted but never know when you might need a good explosive bullet for something other than coyotes.

  guaranteed a hole :chuckle: :chuckle:

Jingles you're a sick twisted individual, I like it :chuckle:
I own both calibers and the 55 gr nosler ballistic tips in both calibers are wickedly destructive more so in the 243 hornady v max bullets leave a mark too
Both bullets in both calibers leave a mess that compares to a rob zombie horror movie
-
I have shot the 53g Hornady V-max bullets through my 223 and I have loaded some up for my buddies 22-250 needless to say that the 223 does not pack as much punch as the 22-250 but it will does some sever damage with dinner plate size holes left!
243 58g hornady Z-Max Zombie rounds will do some serious damage to the hides as well!

:) In my 22-250 V-Max made horrible holes. at about 3650fps it made 4-6 inch exits blowing guts and body parts 15 feet.

I'm in the same frame of mind but... $50 :yike: ?
Maybe you're talking $50 / 3 coyotes and not $50 for each :chuckle:
-
Throught the slump I've been skinning them and sending them out to be tanned and selling them from $60 to $70. Skinned, fleshed and streched many folks were averaging over $50 this past season.
-
My 243 with 55 nbt does well until a shouldrr is hit, the 95gr nbt is just nasty. I have had giid luck with the 52gr amax out of my 223
-
I run the 75gr VMax in my .243 at around 3400fps. It does absolutely nasty things to ground squirrels. I know you're talking about coyotes, but the ground squirrels I've hit with a 22 Mag and 22-250 with 52gr bullets have been nothing compared to the .243. The 75gr blow things up

AWS after skining fleshing and tanning what do you net?

Shot some Rockchucks with my 20 LBC and V-Max 32 grainers--There was pieces of Rockchuck 40 feet away! :chuckle:
Also used some HP Varmint Nightmares from Midsouth Shooters Supply. Just as accurate and devastating as V-max and a whole lot cheaper...
-
It cost me zip to skin, flesh and stretch and around $24. each in lots of six including shipping for the tanning so I'm clearing $26-$36 on the finnished pelts. I've been stock piling tanned fur to make things and am selling the seconds off. Hopefully I'll be shipping some to auction this year and other than shipping they will be all profit.

58 Grain Vmax from my .243 do a number on them. Hit this one a little far back on the run and almost blew it in half. Had to put it back together to get a decent pic. Hornady Superformance.

Did we loose a bunch of posts from this thread? I posted a photo of a ronghorn I shot with a cutting edge bullet - thier BBW#13. It seems to be gone along with some other photos I recall seeing that others put up.
Anyway, check out this photo. I lifted if from Michael over at the accurate reloading forum:
http://forums.accuratereloading.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/4711043/m/2861098911/p/272 (http://forums.accuratereloading.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/4711043/m/2861098911/p/272)
This is a gel test of a 223, 55 gr BBW#13 NonCon HP, hit at 100 yds, impact velocity around 2700-2800 estimated.... Gel block 6x6.....
The BBW#13 fragments on impact and while the core of the bullet continues in straight line penetration path that is equal to or greater than same weight bullets of other brands, the petals shear off and continue along in a star pattern leaving a massive wound channel.

yes we lost photos because of graphic contet. Check your PM's I know the mods sent me one explaining the reason behind it.
-
Yeah my pic got deleted twice, but it's still on here in another thread if you know where to look. :chuckle:

95gr. Nosler Bt puts the smack down on a yote. Softball size exit when ya hit bone on entrance side.
-
i know it's not what you're looking for, but 140 Sierra Gameking in a .300 Win Mag will make a mess!! :chuckle: :chuckle:

I shoot both these cals. BY FAR worst is a 95gn Nosler BT running around the 3200fps mark. Shoot em in the head and turn em into clowns with both eyeballs hangin out and a softball sized exit.
I since have got a custom turret for my load so now im shooting 95gn Berger VLDs at 3136fps and if you hit bone ur gonna get a pretty good sized exit. I hit one facing me last winter and hit it right between the shoulders and it exited between the back shoulder blades and you could have set a football in the hole.
22-250 I shot 50gn Nosler BTs and had a few nasty holes (max load est close to 4,000fps) If I were to hit bone on entrance it would blow up on entrance. Vmax's are terrible for blowing up on entrance. I also shot 52gn Seirras, shot a dog at maybe 10 yards with no exit. Last day I shot that load. (shot a dog about an hr later at about 220 and heart shot it and it ran about 60 yards with a golf ball sized exit. Now my load for the 250 is 52gn Bergers behind a 36.6gns of Varget.
