Title: new to me bbq
Post by: sirfunkeybut on May 15, 2013, 04:19:54 PM
long story short, my grandpa received a gas grill that "didn't work" to scrap out. I asked my grandpa if I could look at it to see it was salvageable and he said yeah. After ALOT of cleaning I hooked up a propane tank a fired it up  this is the best looking/working grill ive owned. The only problem was the igniter broke. I just finished some ribs up a little bit ago and they were my best to date, ive never cooked them so slow in my life. 275* for almost 4 hours
It has the IR burners, what are they best used for?

I use the IR for the rotisserie that I load up with game hens.  Looks like yours has the cut-outs for it on the sides.

that is the same grill we have. found that the connections to the ignitors are a constant prob with mine so just start it with a clickstarter. i dont like the thing filling with gas as i push the button repeatedly.

you can also get a little smoke box that fits between the shields for some wet chips.

Any suggestions as to which one? I do plan on smoking with it as soon as I can.

says the master smoker builder!!
reminder this is a gas GRILL & not a smoker. the little boxes are only intended to impart a little smokey flavor to what you are grilling. for some of us low budget guys.
did not mean this would do a tru smoke job  :dunno:

If you want to due a little smoke without buying one of those boxes just wrap your soaked chips in about 4 layers of the heavy duty foil with a few holes poked in it. put it on top of the shield on low to avoid flamage. i did it a few times but then got a smoker.

Google amazentube. They have tubes to put pellets in that smoke for hours. Just ordered a new one to go with my green mt grill.
