Title: A farmer's gun .................
Post by: hunting4sanity on May 16, 2013, 11:00:16 PM
Here's a gun only a farmer can really appreciate, but even some farmers may wonder why.  I got the bug to paint a stock and since I bleed green I figured my first paint job would have to be something John Deere.  My sons are more talented than me and my daughter-in-law is very crafty, so it became a family project.

We took one perfectly good Ruger 10/22, broke it down, put a fat barrel and a fancy stock on it.  Then I did a mock-up of what I wanted it to look like.  My son did most of the painting (I made a few token efforts) and my daughter-in-law made stencils and masks based on my ideas.

It's not perfect, but when we pulled off the tape and put it back together I was really happy with our family project.  Now, for the next one ……………..

We used Duracoat paint on it, which I believe is for gun stocks, so I hope it proves to be very durable.
Thanks for the comments everyone, I felt like an eight year old kid on Christmas morning when I was taking that masking tape off the paint job.

Outstanding custom job only problem I can possibly see is whether the JD insignia was a Copyrighted design. Hopefully JD won't come after you for copyright infringement if it is.

Only if he sells them. They have to show damages, which would be profits made from the sale.

I agree with farmin.  I worked for the IH dealer that used to be here in town during high school.  I was only jealous of one JD item.  My younger brother worked for the JD dealer.  I hated picking him up after work in the winter.  I would have to wait while someone flagged them down.  They would be out back of the shop on the sleds bombing around.  Why couldn't IH have snowmobiles? :bash:

Probably more trademark than copyright.
